A strange story about life after death and repentance

Today one of my colleagues told me the story of a pastor who supposedly died and came back to life after 4 hours. I know what you’re thinking: Yeah Right. But he seemed convinced that such a thing was true and decided to tell me the whole story. You see in Vanuatu, well actually in the Pacific, and I’m sure in most of cultures of people living close to nature, the supernatural seems to be part of their every day life along with irrational beliefs, customs and superstitions.

Anyway, he said that this man came to his church to testify of what he saw when he was ‘dead’.

Apparently the pastor, lets call him George, got ill. This is a healthy pastor, never gets sick, never even gets the flu, blah blah blah, blah blah blah. So he got to a point where he had to be hospitalised. He had monitors checking his breathing, his heart beat, tubes all over him bringing nutrition to his exhausted body, you could tell he was in bad shape.

Then one evening at 11.00pm, his heart stopped. The doctors tried to bring him back unsuccessfully for I don’t know how long. So they called the family, who called friends, etc, and they all started to pray for him. His wife and son were there crying.
At 3 in the morning, the nurses asked everybody out of the room, to take the body to the morgue. At their usual they put the machines back on, and to their surprise, a pulse came on screen and the pastor was breathing again. The people who saw him right after found he had an unusual glowing complexion.

After further tests, no sign of illness was found in him. He had totally recovered and seemed healthier than ever.

He said that when he ‘died’ he saw someone at his side who told him straight away: ‘i’ve been waiting for you’. George found out from this person that it was his angel. Apparently when we are born, each of us has an angel. Their work is to note all of our wrong doings in a book and to cross them out whenever we do something to get things right. For example if you argue with someone you are supposed to get things right and ask for forgiveness, or forgive the other person if they wronged you. Or if you stole something you have to return it. Stuff like that, you know. No cheating allowed. The angel writes everything down, and if at the judgement day a little note isn’t crossed out, your name wont appear in the ‘Book of Life’.

As the angel explained this he took George to Heaven. It was paved of gold, many houses were there and they were all made out of Gold. There wasn’t a sun, but it seemed light irradiated from the place itself. There were no shadows, even in corners, nor beneath him. He felt blissfully happy, and comfortable. The people there were not ‘religious’ people. They weren’t all catholics, or Presbyterian, or any other religion. The angel told him it wasn’t dogmas or traditions or candles or a prayer that would get him to heaven. He key was to give your life to Jesus, receive Him in your heart, and share a close relationship with him.

Then the angel took him to hell. There he saw a lot of people burning in flames which didn’t consume them. He even saw his own father, and elders from the church that had passed away years back. They were crying out to him for help but he couldn’t talk to them.

He came back in order to share his testimony to others.

I found this story quite disturbing. First because it didn’t match what I expected happened when we die. But then again it matches what a lot of people believe happens.

So I don’t know what to think about it. Maybe it’s true. I’d like to know what’s written in my angel’s notebook!

Don't be so disturbed, this man obviosly did not die if he was 'back' talking about his experiences on the other side.
Dying is not reversable, as much as many of us might like to get a 'second chance'. it just ain't gonna happen.

From a Christian standpoint, no way.

Let's say that when we're born, each of us ARE assigned an angel who "takes notes" on our live. Okay. I can deal with that.

But from a Christian standpoint? If a person comes to a point where s/he realizes that s/he needs Christ, and decides to hand over his/her life, and asks for forgivenes, the angel should be erasing all of those wrongdoings, you know? The angel might write down "Marcie had a lustful thought" or "Marcie was unkind to one of her students," but if I ask for forgiveness for those sins, that angel should have a big pink eraser out to erase those clean out of that book, because once those wrongs are forgiven, God doesn't see them anymore either. The wrong is made right...

I'm not saying that just because we're forgiven by God that we should remain unforgiven by humans. If I hurt one of my students' feelings, I need to suck it up and apologize--mostly for my own conscious, but it's important for the other kids to see that it's important to say "I'm sorry." and then move on with life...

Hmmm...I don't know if any of that made sense...I hope so.

That's the whole point Marcie... "move on with life" NOT come back from death and start over....

I don't really that that's what IG was focusing on...I think she was more focused on the part about "what happens after we die" than about the minister and his situation...

Manopeace, i'm just as skeptical as you are... But even the prime minister of this country is a witness of the 'resurrection'. Either they're all a bunch of liars (after all prime minister is a politician, lol!) or the hospital's material is falling apart (which can be true also!)....

Marcie, well yes, once you receive Jesus in your life, you are forgiven for your sins so far, but the next minute you're up to no good even if you dont mean to, heh. So the angel keeps taking notes! Aaagghhh! I'm sure it's not that bad (i hope so, otherwize i'm going to hell, no doubt )

IG...Hey...we're humans...we're fuckups. It happens. Once you're a Christian you're forgiven FOREVER---nothing you can do can take that gift away.

I'm sure he is not lying. There are many recorded cases of people 'dying' and coming back...my point is... they were never dead.
For some unexplained reason the heart stopped, the breathing stopped, but if it started again... the person was alive to begin with.
Many of us that have undergone surgury felt we had an 'out of body experience'. However, when we awake from the anesthesia the soul is back where it belongs.
Theres no way to explain these things, anyone that ever experiened it has a different story...I'm sure none of them are lying, but that does not make it true either..

We have to beware of any person, even another angel that brings a gospel that is contrary to the teaching of God's Word.

He came back in order to share his testimony to others.

There was a man in Luke 16:28 that wanted to return from the dead because he had five brethren and wanted to testify-

manopeace is giving good advise island_gurl.

Marcie Helen Thanks for that comment, made me feel better.

Manopeace i get your point. It's just to complicated for our little minds i suppose.

Preacherman:

Yes that also is true, i thought about it too. Thanks for your comment preacherman.

I agree that it's complicated for our little minds to grasp. That's why we're (humans) not privvy to everything that affects our state of being. He probably died, but he didn't, know what I mean. He probably didn't fully die because the machine messed up. That my dear IG is my only logical explanation.

Can it happen? It's possible. Did it happen, I believe what you say especially since I'm not there or wasn't there and you're repeating what you were told witnessed by several people. It's not easy to acknowledge and it's not easy to dismiss. Having seen and had a few experiences myself (not of death), I won't fully dismiss it. But I just can't fathom the part about everything being paved in gold?

The angel part I'm aware of and have heard before. But there are just parts of this that seems to defy logic....then again, we do think logically right?

Shovel, I'm not worried as I'm pure as the driven snow

There is evidence of the existence of zombies, or the undead, for instance. These poor unfortunate people are actually drugged with a powder that reduces their vital signs to such a point that even doctors can't tell they're alive. They are buried only to be dug up later and forced into a life of servitude. I'm not saying this is what happened in this case. I'm just trying to point out there are still things in the world that define 'rationale' or 'scientific' explanation.

He even saw his own father, and elders from the church that had passed away years back

Hmm, very interesting... If it is true, what is it saying for those who are currently dedicating their lives to similar pursuits?

Sorry for taking sooo long guys, been sick and just got out of bed today. I didnt think this article would stir such a reaction. It was a weird story i thought i'd post here, heh! Anyway,

That's what i thought too, but i didnt tell my colleague cuz he was so sure that it was true.

I agree. I'm still skeptical because i know God said that if we cant believe his word, how can we believe in his wonders if he ever brought back to life someone to testify that the Bible is true. We wouldnt believe such a thing possible. Which is true: look at us trying to figure if that was true, heh! He also said that we shouldnt be fooled by false prophets. So yeah, it's really hard to find out if there's truth in that.
But I just can't fathom the part about everything being paved in gold?

You mean you cant imagine everything being paved in gold? I think it's written in the book of revelations that the new Jerusalem would be made out of gold and other precious stones. But i probably dreamt it Should ask preacherman...

Shovelheat:
I gotta feelin' I might be in deep do-do...

What do you think you're angel's written in his notebook so far?? hehe

Maso:
Shovel, I'm not worried as I'm pure as the driven snow

Driven snow?? You mean snow that's been driven on?? Isnt that all muddy and greyish??
I'm just trying to point out there are still things in the world that define 'rationale' or 'scientific' explanation.

You can say that again. Scientifically speaking we're only seeing the top of the iceberg. There are so many things that remain unexpalined: 'ghosts', spinning tables, foretold prophecies, people who get litterally on fire with no rational explanation, out of body experiences, vodoo, white magic, black magic, etc, etc, the list could go on and on... This things have been around us since the beginning of times and we still cant explain them.
Hmm, very interesting... If it is true, what is it saying for those who are currently dedicating their lives to similar pursuits?

I think it says that hypocrits cant enter the Kingdom of God! lol
