The Freaking Frogs!

My ancestors may have come over on the boat from France, and indeed, I am related to Napolean (so that is corsican I guess), but I am tired of their bool schid (as Moderateman says).

The latest?  Their idea of humor is to call Pope Benedict XVI "Adolph II" and that he is going to change the sign of the cross to "The Father, son and Third Reich".

Excuse me if I dont find that extremely in poor taste.  no, that is too mild. I find that extremely racist and bigoted!  And there is no taste about it! (for those on the far left that think a race is only black or brown; Gauls, Franks, Prussians, and Germans are all Disctinct RACES.)

I am so shocked and sickened for what passes as their version of humor, that I am seeking a renown doctor of ethnicity that can perform a gaulectomy on me!

I no longer want any french Blood coursing through my system.  It makes me sick to look at myself in the mirror.

That should speak more for the French people, as it is part of their legislation and they have tried to do something to rectify the situation, than some comedic cowboy using shock tactics to provoke a response.

Late, but always welcome.  You get a cookie too!  As I said to Yellow sign, I guess I just went off on a rant.  You make a good point.  I guess I will give my family another chance!

I guess it's true, "you are what you eat".

I suppose that makes me fast, cheap, and easy.

Completely understandable at that! It's awfully nice to see something about both religion and the french being discussed in a level headed manner on this here site as well. Not something you expect to see very often.

Rant on, my man!

Guess that is why my mother made us pack our lunches!

I guess the shock wore off over night and I can be thankful that the jerks got the boot by the Authorities.  Guess I wil retain my frogginess.

I would say that makes you about 100% American! No hyphenation included!

--Enough to make any office worker looking at the race box on an application to freak out. [that is if they required descent/heritage,etc....]

It is in most places, but you have to travel there, and I think that is what is Lucas' problem. Fortunately, I have a cousin who did our family, so it saved me the time and expense.

--Yep, that would pretty much be my problem, cause i lack the money [paying for food, etc...] and the time lately [college]. though i have put a little money back...

Mine came in the early 19th century. My Grandfather's family were Arcadians that got booted out of Canada and settled in Louisianna. My Grandmother's family migrated from Santo Domingo. I only mention half my parentage as my father left us when I was 4, and I only saw him once after that. So I dont know squat about him, and really dont care to.

--Interesting, yep, my dad left also, about a week after i was born, then later [about 1 year later] tried to get custody...i found out later, that he was a con artist, and recently i found out that as of july 2001, he lived in stockton california, but haven't found anything since then, possibly in jail...bu oh well, in the past...

Well, I do know where mine is now.  My Aunt called me 4 years ago to let me know he had died.

well, our beloved new pope did say, "it was time to get rid of the filth in the catholic church." what do you suppose he meant by that comment?? he never specified who or what he was talking. and, i'm not sure it was his way of saying that st. peters was in need of its annual spring cleaning. so, i'm just curious because i am under the impression that god loves everyone...sinners and all. even jesus hung out with the "undesirables." so, where was he going with that?

all the evidence needed for denying accreditation/academic credit to those schools of taxonomy and genetics which recruit students with those 'can you draw this amoeba' ads on matchbook covers. disregard for a second the obvious error (all gauls are celts but not all celts are gauls), and consider where this line of thinking leads: each of the 12 tribes of israel is a distinct race...the lahkota are not only a race apart from other plains nations but one made up of several distinct races including the hunkpapa, oglala, miniconjou, itazipacola, oohenonpa, sihasapa and sichangu...and the middle east is the most racially diverse geographic area on the planet. or would that be africa?

you're taking that silly couplet bout the french being a funny race far too seriously.

I think he was referring to the pedophelia scandal that has wracked the church for the past 10+ years.  I hope that is what he meant.

"The latest?  Their idea of humor is to call Pope Benedict XVI "Adolph II" and that he is going to change the sign of the cross to "The Father, son and Third Reich"."

It is perhaps of note that companies advertise features their products do not have. When you are not sure of something, make it known that you are.

Windows is secure, Mac OS has lots of applications, and the French are above German fascism.

The French have a sorry legacy when it comes to World War II and Nazism. They collaborated. The "joke" is not poor taste (it would be poor taste when the English made it), it's a form of advertisement. "Look at us, we are better than the Germans, we are no Nazis." they seem to want to say, so that perhaps the world will forget their part in the Nazis' little adventure.

This is an insult to Germans, to Catholics and Catholicism. And the French know it. The majority of the French probably want no part of it. But the minority who believe that Germany or the Germans of today are somehow more fascist than France and can be subject of such "jokes", should learn more about current events and less about their perceived history.

When I think "anti-semitism" these days, I do not think "Germany", I think "France".

The English had a tasteless frontpage headline (I think is was the SUN) referring to the Hitler-youth time of the Pope. So it's not only the French!

But before you make statements you should have known that:

in the beginning of WWII the US governement turned away a boat full of Jewish People, they knew they were procecuted in Nazi-Germany.
many of the Nazi-Scientists based their sick ideas on American "Sceintists".
the US did not exterminate mental patients and people they deemned not fit for parenting but secretly sterilized them and without their conscent.

I'm not condoning the remarks of some French but refrein from blaming whole nations.
The whole idea that blacks and whites are of different races is tribute to KKK and White Power ideology. Beware!

Gauls, germans and so on are all TRIBES. The HUMAN RACE is all of us be we black, white, yellow or red (b.t.w. red was the skin-paint of some american natives).
The romans called several tribes from northern Europe and the Kaukasus Germans to distinction and classificaton easier.

This is very true.  I lived there in the 70s and the Germans are ashamed and for the most part, try to atone for the past (there are exceptions). As a people, the Germans are one of the most hospitable, while the French are the most abusive.  Perhaps it is the perception by the Germans that they paid for their mistake, and in the case of the French, they were given a free ride.

IN any event, that is very insightful.

I remember it.  It was to the effect 'from Nazi to papa Ratzi", and it was very tasteless.  If my heritage had been english, I would have been equally as offended, but the French one was as bad as the jerk in my home town that was playing snips of Hitler and saying it was a speech by Cardinal Ratzinger.

Ok, we have sins as well.  That is a given.  Our treatment of indians bordered on genocide, and is a balck spot on our soul.  The past is not really the issue here, and I agree and have appologized for the rant and the condemnation of all French (after all, some here are French, present company included).

But I quoted your whole response (after the first part already replied to) because you are right.  We are tribes, and the race is mankind.  I am french, and darker than my mexican wife.  Skin color is as much a matter of heritage as it is just gene selection.  We are one race, one people.  And we do have bastards like the clowns in France, the KKK and the skinheads.

If you are defending your own heritage, please read all the responses as I have said, and will again, that not all French are arseholes and jackarses.  This was just a case of some people being that.  The French have a lot to atone for, and they have yet to do so.  But that is not to be used as a brush to paint the whole tribe.
