Jonah 1:1-3
Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
In this portion of God’s Word, God commanded Jonah to go and tell Nineveh that their wickedness (sin) is come up before God.
Jonah did not obey God, he went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish, 180° from Nineveh.
If we could have asked Jonah why he was disobedient, I’ll bet you he had a very good reason.
How ‘bout you my friend? What direction are you headed? Are you running in the opposite direction from where God would have you to go? I bet you have a good reason, eh?
