My week off

So here's a report from my one week holiday, where you havent seen any of Island Gurl!!!!!

My mum is still with me until next Monday. She arrived on the 23rd of April and has been taking care of me til now. I've been eating alot of home cooked meals with a lot island food in it, and veggies, and steaks, and chicken and gosh i have put some really needed weight on. People dont notice that i've put on weight but i can tell there's more meat where i need it (aka my butt and my chest haha!). So that's a very good point.

Other good thing, i've stepped out from the party scene for the whole week. I've been a saint. Only had a couple of whisky's to celebrate my mum's arrival. And last saturday had three Malibu-sprite with Delizia. That's all. (told ya i've been good!!!).

We've watched some good movies together just the two of us: The Bourne Supremacy, Wimbleton and the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Loved them!

It's been raining too much though so we havent been to the beach. But we still went to a resort to chill at the pool side with fruit punches and a lot of chatting and laughing. It was really relaxing and refreshing.

We've also visited friends that i hardly got to see, since i have a different social group now. But they have this gorgeous 7 month old baby and he's so cute!!!!! Smiles to everybody over anything. We were all over him!

My mum had a lot of paper work to get done to be able to get a French passport when she goes back to New Caledonia. We've been able to prepare everything. Havent spend our time lazing around ya see.

Finally there's been a lot of shopping. Not only food and clothes. Here's a hot one: I GOT MYSELF CONTACTS!! HEEHEE! Yes, at last i got rid of my glasses and gathered enuogh courage to put my finger in my eye. I'm so happy with myself: I can wear sunglasses at last, i got some fancy ones and i wear them whenever the sun dares to show up :)

Oh and Darren. My Mum is totally upset with my sob story. She doesnt understand how we can still be friends. She'd rather he stopped trying to see me and all that. Maybe i should? *sigh* i know i should if i want to get over him, but that's probably my problem: do i really want to get over him?? A different blog huh?

So yup, that's what my week's been like! I missed coming online a lot though. There were times when i was horribly bored. But i had a well desrved rest. I've slept in, i've had long naps, it was easy going.

I tried contacts.  For over a year, but never did get use to sticking my finger in my eye.

Welcome back again!  I wish my mother could have cooked, cause then when she came to stay with me during my operation, I would have appreciated her cooking too!  But alas, she never could cook, so I ate my sister's food (she was on a health kick) during that week. It was edible.

I do miss Gumbo tho......

I'm too big a wuss about my eyes to ever wear contacts.

Sounds like a pretty good week. Is good to just step out of your normal routine once in a while and in a sense take a vacation from yourself.

Wow, IG that was a fun week off. And mom's cooking is always the best, mmm yummy! I haven't braved the contact lenses myself. Still thinking about getting Lasik. Anyway, good to "see" you again and glad you had some rest.

Oh yeah, I just watched the Bourne Supremacy this weekend too on DVD. What a movie! I loved the first one and knew the second would be just as good!

Dr Guy, sticking your finger in your eye first thing in the morning isnt very pleasant too, but oh well, at least now i'm not hiding behing my glasses! hehe! And you know as long as u had home cooked meals it's all that matters isnt it?

MasonM, you know i was that too, but eventually, after going to the beach several times and not being a ble to see the coral that would cut my foot, i've decided that contacts rock

Hey Em, sounds like you had a busy little break from work. As you know, I did too but I had two weeks. And in the three days I've been back to work, I've completely forgotten what it was like to relax. Oh well, only another 56 weeks to go before my next holiday. I can hardly wait...

Good on you for getting contacts too. Toni has been wearing them for years now and swears by them. I'm sure you'll look even prettier with them than you already do.

Check out Brad's blog on Lasik Surgery!  I had it 10 months ago, he but 6!  And it is fantastic!

If I read your age correctly, you might be a bit young.  They dont like to do it for anyone under 25 (because the eyes have not stabilized).  But definitely look into it!  No contacts and no glasses!  ANd for the first time in my life, I can actually see!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah i've heard about it, or seen it on TV i think. I'm 22 though so still have to wait three years before being allowed to! Hehe. How much is it? A couple of thousand australian dollars isnt it? Or is it more?

Mine was $3k USD.  DOnt know how much Brad's was.  But I have seen it for about $1k USD if you dont have astigmatism.  I did, badddd too!

I dont have astigmatism yet thank God, i'm just shortsighted. So i'd just have to consider the second option A grand in USD, i dont know how much that is in AUD. Probably $1 500. I think...
