The Greatest lyrics ever written

Blowin in the wind tops all the rest

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

yes dylan does not get all the credit he deserves as a poet more than a troubador

I'd say it's the best lyrics based on content i.e. folk/hippyish antiwar music. It's definitely a universal timeless humane song. There are too many good lines to rank them. I like the lyrics from lots of tunes, like Neil Diamond's pot song. "La la la pot pot gimme some pot, forget who you are you can be what you're not, do do take a family cruise, you with your grass your mom and dad with their boo-ooo-ooze."
As far as storytelling songs go I'd say Neil Young's song Thrasher ranks high on the list..."..so I got bored and left them there, they were just dead weight to me, headed out to where the pavement turns to sand..."
But the one song I would definitely say was one of the best songs ever written is the Grateful Dead's tune "Ripple". I'd post them all but it's such a good tune you should take the few minutes it would take to download it from the internet. Truly amazing.
