Given the fact that she was R. Kelly's protégé and one-time wife, Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number is creepy and sleazy. The entire song is dedicated to R. Kelly's fantasy of being with underage girls. From the first lyric, "Age ain't nothin' but a number/Throwin' down ain't nothin' but a thang" to the cooing Aaliyah does in the middle of the song, beckoning her older lover to come in the room. Although her voice is top form, the degrading lyrics detract any goodwill it could've accomplished.
