American wool needs you. Acrylic yarns for all you crafters, are made from petroleum products. wools are not and there are some super soft fibers out there, and an underground movement of artists, creating unique works of art with all natural fibers . there are new fibers too , all natural newbies to add shine a silkieness, a softness, etc. and the standbys are easier for you to get from hand spinners too , cashmere? mohair? angora? and then you have some VERY eclectic naturally colored wools and fibers that dont ever have acid touch them for them to have natural verigated colors. an angora garment handspun? unlike any sweater, it can halo until it looks like it is ALL fur... and no bunnies died to make it. most handspinners can be commissioned ... you choose a fleece or fiber, and get a spinner to make you the yarn... and make yourself a garment if you can knit or crochet.. if you cant, many yarn shops especially hand spinners shops will carry unique items for sale.. alot will be found at the maryland sheep and wool festival , in May, there is abnother large spinner expo in rhinebeck , and another in Asheville NC ... look for them, look for hand spinners on the web, researchy wools ... and learn, they dont have to itch.. handspinners do it with softness!!! we do not remove the lanolin all the way and we dont treat our fibers harshly.
