HWareInfo

System Info snap shot

Years ago Norton Utilities included a handy little program called SI.exe for System Info.  Nowadays, such simple utilities seem to have been superceded by bloated GUI programs.

But HWareInfo, a simple freeware program does much of what SI did and much more. It's a simple command line utility that gives the user a great deal of information on their system.

fasterus, do this:
Unzip the file into any folder you'd like - just to make it easier we'll unzip it into c:\tmp
Once that is done click: Start -> Run -> type: cmd -> press enter
Now your DOS box most likely will show you this:
c:\documents and settings\%username% (username being the name you're logged in with)

Type:
cd\ and Press enter
cd tmp and press enter
hwareinfo  and press enter and follow the onscreen instructions

Tip: If you want to watch/read all of the info in notepad, type this:
hwareinfo -D ->hwinfo.txt for your hardware configuration in a textfile
hwareinfo -O ->OSinfo.txt for all your Operating System info in a textfile
hwareinfo -P ->HDinfo.txt for all your Drives info in a textfile
hwareinfo -U ->uinfo.txt for all your User info in a textfile

Then simply open the created textfiles in notepad and voila.
All textfile names are off course optional, make up your own if want to

Yup..had the same problem. Would be nice if instructions came with this stuff. This little tool Link does the same thing and more, plus it's much easier to use.

Just wanted to thank you Webgizmos, that little utility has saved me SOOOOO much time! It has helped me track down Chipset and BIOS upgrades on a few PC's already, a couple of box's that are "ancient" as well lol..

Everest Home edition has proved "invaluable, at least to me, and besides the box on the splash screen resembles my latest creation!, how cool is that?..LMAO

Thanks again,
Zero.
