POPE JOHN PAUL DIES

As many of you may already know, I am no lover of the Catholic Church. But I must admit that Pope John Paul was an historical giant and will be remembered as one of the most accomplishing popes in history.

Karol Wojtyla entered the priesthood in 1945, just as the Iron Curtain descended across much of Europe, and Pope John Paul II helped to tear it down. John Paul worked with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher to destroy communism. It is a wonder that much blood wasn't spilled at that time. Thanks to these 3 giants of history, communism fell in a rather peaceful manner.

Last month John Paul had begun having major breathing problems and was fitted with a breathing tube and a feeding tube. John Paul had become a picture of suffering. His papacy has been marked by its call to value the aged and to respect the sick, subjects the pope has turned to as he battles Parkinson's disease.

John Paul's health declined sharply last Thursday when he developed a high fever. He died in his own living quarters rather than go to the hospital where he would have been far less comfortable. Like him or not, agree with him or not, he will always be a major historical figure.

I don't see any major news agencies reporting his death... (it's 7:00 pm Pacific Standard Time where I am....)

Where are you getting your information?

He's not dead yet Marvin shouldnt you respect the man while he is still alive and stop jumping the gun!

Well pointed out, Marcie and Phoenixboi. But have a look at Marvin's other threads. He would never let a little thing like lack of evidence slow him down.

this report of the pontiff's death is premature. sorta puts the announced imminent commencement of the end times into perspective.

"From the toil of the sun" is a description of pope john paul II. There was a so-called prophet I think back in the 1000's or so, and he made a long list of all the future popes, in order. Apparently some are vague, but some are so dead on it freaky. An example, one of his descriptions might have been "over the hills at dawn" and the pope he was refering to had a family emblem/coat-of-arms consisting of a couple hills with a sunrise appearing behind them. Things like that. And his for the current pope was "from the toil of the sun". It's vague, but the dictionary terms are like: toil a.k.a. to work very hard...etc...and sun a.k.a. life or relating to life or something. You could look it up on thesaurus.com I guess. Anyways Pope Joh Paul II spent a lot of time speaking about the sanctity of life I think more than most other pope's in more recent times. And he was a very travelled man spreading his religion's word all over the planet. He worked hard leading his church, that is not in doubt. So I think when he dies we may hear tons about how hard he worked for his cause (toil) and his huge respect for life (sun). The prophet only had 2 more after this pope and the one after the next one is "Peter of Rome". Whether it means his name will be Peter and he'll be from Rome is in the air. There should be some connection though no matter how distant.

Please accept my appologies. The Italian media reported around 1:25 p.m., eastern time, that John Paul was dead. That is when I wrote this blog. I then went to do some business and later heard that he was still alive. I thought about retracting the article. But, by then, the damage had been done.

THAT WILL TEACH ME TO VERIFY THINGS BEFORE I WRITE ABOUT IT. SORRY FOLKS.
