First Tornado Watch of the Year

Well, it appears tornado season is arriving here in Illinois at its normal time. I've seen tornado warnings as early as mid-February and as late as late October here. I'm looking out the window now and I see a completely clear sky and a sun that is getting close to falling below the treetops. But the line of storms will be here soon. We enjoyed a beautiful, albeit windy, 75 degree day here. Tomorrow should be about 20 degrees cooler. Tornado season means one thing here. There will be at least one tornado that is spotted within 5 miles of my home before June.

You too, huh?

It was 75 and windy too here at Scott AFB today.  We had a few drops of rain around 1700, but apart from that it was a beautiful day...

Yeah, warm and windy. The warmth seemed a little late in coming this year.

Most of the storms on radar look they're North of I-70 and running parallel to I-55 and I-57. You should be all clear.

I've never seen a tornado, must be scary and impressive...

We had our first warnings here in Wisconsin also. That and the sound of Harleys tells me that springtime is only another snow storm and/or another two months away!! ;~D

If you hear a train coming, but there are no tracks, you just might be having a tornado!! ;~D

Me either, altho I have come close.  Been in a half dozen earthquakes and hurricanes, but no tornadoes.

But I think we beat you midwesterners last year.  Records show that the old Dominion had 86 last year. Yes, that is an all time record (in recorded history).

2003 was a record year for tornadoes here in Illinois. We had over 120 for the year, about 75% of them in May. Between tax day and Memorial Day that year I swear it seemed like the warning sirens were going off every other day.

Yea, but you live in Tornado Alley.  Virginia AVERAGES about 5 a year!

It is Global warming I tell you!
