Canada denies assylum for US deserter.....
...Cowards not welcome!
Today, a Canadian immigration board denied political asylum for Jeremy Hinzman, thus serving as an initial notice to all US military deserters that their hopes of evading military duty (for which they all volunteered for), evading facing the legal ramifications of their position (electing to run instead of facing the music as it were is cowardly). Hinzman is not alone in his flight from serving honorably, at least 7 other deserters hiding out in Canada greated Jeremy's denial in the same manner, shock! (Quite frankly I am rejoicing cowards dont deserve respect, admiration or pity).
The Immirgration and Refugee Board which decided Hinzman's fate ruled that that while this punk may face limited social and employment discrimination, "the treatment does not amount to a violation of a fundamental human right, and the harm is not serious." Currently the coward faces up to 5 years in a military prison for desertion. ( Frankly that aint long enough).
As for the Pentagon, they have urged the deserters to return and take up their concerns at their repsective military bases. (But that might actually take a bit of courage...something these deserters seem to be in very short supply). In a statement after the ruling, the Army had this to say, "We are an Army serving a nation at war. Each of us volunteered to serve, and the vast majority serve honorably. AWOL and desertion are crimes that go against Army values, degrade unit readiness and, in a time of war, may put people's lives at risk."
