The Schiavo Situation is F'ed up!

So now it's my turn to post on Teri Schiavo. I am undecided in what should be done. On one hand, this poor woman is suffering and merely not living life, but existing in a tiny room. In some ways I think it would be best if the feeding tube was not reinserted. I have researched this story and it does not sound like she will suffer from starvation, but slip into a coma. This to me sounds like a peaceful way to go.

On the other hand, I am not so sure her husband should be the one making the decision. Her husband has obviously moved on and probably wants her to pass on so he can remarry. In this case, wouldn't he want custody to be turned over to her parents? (then again the parents don't sound like the most mentally sound folks on the face of the earth.

No one will ever know what Teri would have really wanted.

For me it's not about being a democrat or a republican. It's about a human life. I am torn what to think.

That's true. This is a very real catch 22. As long as people are trying to do what's best for her, and not what's best politically or what they'd do in her situation, then I could respect their opinion on the subject.

It is not really any longer about whether or not to end her life, but HOW.  Starving her to death is not the answer and is not death with dignity.  It is cruel and unusual punishment. period.

It is starvation, and you can find a dozen links on why it is not cruel and unusual.  Now.

Where were those links when we were told our excesses were starving children in Africa?

Would you starve your cat or dog?  The simple fact is she has minimal brain activity.  That does not mean she cannot feel and suffer.  She can and is.

I dont subscribe to situational ethics.

Sorry for the double post.  I guess I have to reboot.  It has done that to me on others tonight as well.
