What the Army Has Done For Me...
Counter counter recruiting
With the current flp over “counter-recruiting” I thought I should give the Army it’s due. I joined the Army in 1992 and it has been pretty kind to me. So far they have sent me to:
Ft. Jackson, South Carolina (Basic)
The Presidio of Monterey (DLI for a bit over a year)
CP Humphreys, South Korea (Work, can’t say much about it)
Fort Meade, MD (Working for No Such Agency)
Cp Humphreys, South Korea (4 years this time round)
Fort Hood, Texas (Current home station)
Temporary duty at :
Ft. Rucker, Alabama (Flight crew qualification and Altitude chamber)
Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas
Worldwide Language Olympics, Presidio of Monterey (we lost big time)
Wiesbaden, Germany (God what a place!)
Soto Cano Air Force Base, Honduras (6 great months of running a hotel for the AF)
Current Base, Iraq
Along the way I learned to speak Korean pretty adequately and develop into a reasonably competent SIGINT geek. Would I have followed this path as a civilian? Not likely nor is it likely that I would have gone to this many places. The Army has done it’s part and I have benefited from it. I have no complaints about my choice of careers. The Army is not the source of any of my problems I am. It’s all about personal choice and taking responsibility for those choices folks.
