Windows XP waits for ObjectDoc to end

Has anyone had the issue where ObjectDoc 1.11 does not close properly when logging off or shutting down.
When shutting down the end program dialog is displayed by windows xp saying that windows is attempting to shutdown objectdock, eventually it closes and windows shuts down. On a similar note, I have also noticed warnings in the event viewer indicating that object doc might be hanging onto a hive file and windows cannot update the registry during shutdown ( Windows save user information updates to the registry during a shutdown)
(The event viewer posts a "usrenv" warning or error message for a registry access denied proplem on windows xp.)

Could it be a sysStats or a wincmd docklet issue?? ( Both docklets downloaded from wincustomize )

Any ideas??

It sounds like a docklet issue to me - XP gives each program 20 seconds to deinitialize and unload, then you get the warning.

If you want to troubleshoot the program:

Unload ObjectDock.

Set system to "show" hidden files and folders (Tools>Folder Options>View tab), then go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder and delete any "ObjectDock" folder there - if you saved a theme, there will be a written cache here (your saved theme is also in the "Themes" folder of Program Files>ObjectDock sub-directory, so no need to worry that you just deleted your favorite theme).

Reboot and load ObjectDock. You should get the default theme.

Reboot and see if the program hangs.

You sound like you know your way around the computer, so I will leave it at that.

Thanks, I was hoping maybe someone knew of a particular docklet issue. I was trying to avoid the whole reinstall issue

Thanks for the reply!!!

Just a note to say that I have the same thing happening. Using ObjectDock Plus 1.1.5. No solution tho.

Why not unload OD before you shutdown? Or remove the docklets one at a time and test it?

I've just been ignoring it cause I don't shutdown very often but this got me curious. On my system removing docklets didn't have any effect. Unloading OD before shutting down - only diff is getting message earlier instead of later. The problem seems to be related to McAfee Viruscan. If I turn it off, log off is fine. I didn't use to have this problem and have had McAfee on along. Do you run VirusScan also?

Yeah, I run McAfee, but I have excluded the objectdoc directory from ondemand scans. Although I just realized that I only ignore the objectdoc installation folder and not the settings folder stored for each user. I will do a little more testing and see what happens. I have not had a chance to play with it after my initial post as I was out of town.

Also, removing docks did not have an effect.

It is just strange because the freeware version ran on my system for months with no issues. Overall though, ObjectDoc is an awesome piece of software and I reccomend it to everyone I know!

Just as an update, my problem seemed to be the sysstats docklet. Having just one sysstats docklet did not really cause a problem. More than one and windows would try and end object. Additionally, closing the object dock configure window would hang if using any sysstats docklets.
