Quit Smoking

I want to stop smoking

It is really hard to do at the moment. I can't really go on any of the patches cause they interact with my other meds. If I do it it has to be pure will power.

What is it that makes me want to keep smoking? I dont like it anymore. It just needs to stop.

Smoking is suicide for people too chicken to do it all at once.

I've wanted to quit smoking for awhile, but on the other hand, I really enjoy it.

yeah i agree.

I cant go blaming anyone but myself for smoking even though when I was a kid everyone around me was smoking, I passive smoked all my childhood years. It is in my blood. It isnt an easy thing to give up.
I really enjoy it.

I used to enjoy it but am not anymore, it seems like a necessity rather than an enjoyment.

In April I will have been quit from a 20 + year habit for SEVEN years. I can't tell you enough how much all the suffering was worth it from where I'm at now. Here's a fantastic site that I highly recommend, it, and Gerald May's book Addiction and Grace, I cannot say enough good about. Good luck...

Good luck with trying to quit and actually doing it Phoenix. I'm not a smoker, but my husband is. Has been for as long as I've known him, and that's a very long time. I quit trying to make him give up cigarettes a long time ago because he has to want to do it for himself. A co-worker of mine recently quit smoking after 40 years of smoking. She's going on a month now. So, like Shovel, it can be done.

You want to do it and that's good. Hope you find the willpower to do so.

I'm technically still in the process of quitting. I quit right after i got married this December and had two relapses: one on the honeymoon at the beginning of January where I smoked a pack over 7 days and then one 9 days ago where i only smoked 1. When you don't have them every day you realize how gross they are. I basically am doing the cold turkey method by avoiding smoking situations like bars....basically any situations that involve alcohol. So far so good. Just avoid the situations where you are tempted to smoke.

I want to quit because I'm supposed to quit. But in my heart, I don't want to quit.

What's more important, life or the way we live it? There's a million things can kill us. We are fragile.

Then by all means don't! Don't make yourself miserable doing something for the status quo. Me, I quit for several perrsonal reasons. I saw my best friend die a slow miserable lingering death from lung cancer for one, and also, well...I was just sick of being a slave.
