Problems with starting Galactic Civilization

Hello.

I have bought GC and installed it. After showing the intro the game does not starts, but return to my desktop. I am using Windows XP, have got an PIV 2,9GH, 512 Ram and a 4 month old ATI grafic-card.

All patches are loaded down and installed.

Can somebody help me to fix my problem?

The most common cause of a CTD was running the game in a windowed mode. I think the game only works in 16bit mode.

Thanks for the quick help.

Unfortunatelly it doesnot matter if I have 16 bit mode or 32 bit mode. Its ends after the intro.

What is a CTD?

Windowed mode: Isn't that mode, like MSWorks? I meen you can move your windows somewhere else? I dont use this mode for GC. It is already starting in a full window.

CTD = "Crash to Desktop."

When you say "patches" are installed, are you referring to game patches, or your system drivers? If your video card has new drivers available it's worth trying to DL them. Ditto for your sound card drivers.

One thing to check: The main game screens are 1024x768. Some PCs, laptops especially, don't run in this resolution. A few users have had problems related to this issue, although as I recall their descriptions, the game usually loaded; it just LOOKED very bad as their display tried to re-size the graphics.

Failing that, this problem doesn't sound familiar; but we're just the players. You can drop Stardock themselves a tech support email at [email protected]. I assume they're closed at the moment, as today is Sunday, but they're generally very good about responding promptly to requests.

I have meant all Updates, Fixes servicepacks and so on. Unfortunatelly none of your hints have worked, so I have used the e-mails you have provided.
