I was born and raised on Long Island, NY in a nice town named Lindenhurst. I graduated Lindenhurst high School in the Spring of 90, went to Suffolk Community College and graduated in the spring of ‘93 with an AS in Liberal Arts. Then I graduated New York Institute of Technology in the spring of ‘97 with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies (but I usually say my degree is in English because it was one of my core subjects and nobody knows what Interdisciplinary Studies really means) ,. I married my wife, Geraldine in the summer of ‘98.
I started my career in Customer Service with First Card in their Uniondale, NY offices in the fall of ‘97. I always wrote stories on my breaks and during lunch and one of my supervisors thought I was quite good so and told never to stop writing. I still haven’t, I left First Card which became First USA to go MCI Worldcom in the winter of 2000. After that I worked for CPS from the Spring of 2001 until the winter of 2004.
My little family which contains my 2 daughters Emily (born in 2000) and Lori (borne 2003) because of Family events moved to Honey Brook, PA. I now work still in customer service. So for 7 years I have been a Customer Service representative and I Have written about working in customer service on and off all my life. I love to Hear stories almost as much as I love to write them.
Here is a story I would like to share with you. I wrote it last year and I just want to share it with all the people I possibly can. There is nothing bad in it (no sex, no violence, no bad words) It just is funny and sweet story that I would like people to read. It's a free download. So sent it to anybody you want would like. Summary of the story
"Work Husband, Work Wife :A Friendship Story" is a work of Fiction in which I try to explore the relationships that surround my main character, Gabrielle Shoe, both at home and at work.
Gabrielle works at a customer call center for BAM, where he spends his days on the phone under the supervision of the head manager, Mrs Lisa Coal Stove, who is also his younger sister. His antics and his friendship with his co-worker, Sara, characterize Gabrielle's approach to his work, and further perspective is added in scenes that portray his relationship with his wife, Cheryl, and their three children. When rumors drive a wedge between Gabrielle and Sara, it is Cheryl who offers him a creative resolution.
Here is a preview of the story
“Gee you are being summoned to room number 2”
“MMmmm,” He turned off the TV and walked to his daughter’s room.
“Daddy” Eve shouted from her little bed, “there is a monster under my bed.’
“Ok let daddy check” Gabrielle said as he looked under the bed,” He must have ran away”
“Pigs daddy,” Eve sat up in her pink blanket with her pink Princess night gown,” I want to hear about the pigs.”
“Ok, the story of the three little pigs and then good little girls go to sleep” Gabrielle said as he sat down on a pink rocking chair.
“Yeah, pigs,” Eve smiled and laid her head down on the pillow.
“Ok there were 3 pigs that just got out of college with degrees in Liberal Arts leaving them with no marketable skill, so they got jobs at Diary Queen. It was either that or Customer Service and we both know that customers suck.”
“Watch your language!” said a Cheryl’s voice from the living room.
“Baby, I thought you were going to sleep.” Gabrielle said in a surprised voice.
“I would but after I heard from my friend in the mother’s group how little red riding hood was giving her pimp the money she owned him, I feel I have to monitor everything my daughter hears.”
“Ok baby,” said Gabrielle and turned back to Eve, “They got free ice cream.”
“I like ice cream daddy.” Said Eve with a big smile snuggling in her bed.
“So because the man kept the little pigs down with his oppressive iconic system, they couldn’t afford a nice house.”
“Maybe it’s just that the pigs are too lazy to use their degrees to be paid more and want to blame everybody but themselves.” The voice said from the living room with very heavy sarcasm.
Gabrielle continued, why did she have to interrupt his fun all the time, no sense of humor. So, he said, “Luckily they had a cousin Nicky who works for the parks department and was able get them land that, lets say, was being unused. They also had an Uncle Vince who got them some supplies like twigs and straw that fell off a couple of Home Depot trucks”
Gabrielle paused and looked out the hallway into the air and Eve’s eyes followed.
“Keep going” the voice from the living room said.
“So the first pig used the straw, the second used wood, and the 3rd called in a few favors. Uncle Vince’s nephews, Anthony, Carman, and Junior came to build a house out of some nice Italian brick with a nice fountain because Italians always like moving water.”
“Mafia Pigs, it’s going to great at the mother’s group tomorrow.” said Cheryl in a disapproving voice.
“I am trying to tell a story here.” Gabrielle said with a sigh, Eve giggled as she grabbed her teddy bear and started to close her eyes.
“MMMMM,” came from the hall with a huff.
“So the land wasn’t really legit, so the boys from town hall sent a wolf to talk to the pigs.” Gabrielle was sure to make quotations signs with his fingers when he said talk.
“The wolf came to the first pig’s house made of straw. So the wolf goes ‘Knock, Knock, come on pig you know the drill’ and the pig said back, ‘Go away Fuzz you need a warrant to check my stuff, I’m calling my lawyer right now’ the little pig picked up the phone. The wolf got a bulldozer from his brother at the Department of Transportation. So, the wolf smacked down the house and said ‘this is my warrant, loser’. But the Pig used his Nextel direct connect feature to get his brother with the house of sticks, who was just back from the Phish concert. They huddled in the house but because the Wolf worked for the man the cops wouldn’t help them, and since the wolf was a hater, he didn’t even knock this time. The wolf used his bulldozer and slammed the house down. Therefore, they took the second pig’s very fine motor scooter to the third pig’s house. The wolf came and met the family and was rubbed out. THE END.” Gabrielle stood up and bent over his daughter.
“Very good, daddy very good.” said Eve, “Hug and Kiss”
He hugged and kissed his daughter, and walked back to the living room knowing his lovely wife is waiting for him.
“When her teacher calls, you are taking the day off and going not me.” Cheryl said with a smile.
“Yes dear, if you don’t like my stories you read to her,”
“I don’t read like Daddy.” said Cheryl and got up from the Gabrielle’s Chair.
“Well can Daddy finally watch his Playboy channel from his chair?” asked Gabrielle as he sat down in the recliner and grabbed the remote for the TV.
“Sorry for your children and wife interrupting for TV time great Wizard.” Cheryl said as she sat on his lap.
“Oh I like that Great Wizard,” said Gabrielle and they kissed, “What magic do I get.”
She leaned over and whispered in her husband’s ear, “The right to make waffles tomorrow.” In addition, kissed him and walked over to the hallway.
“You suck.” Gabrielle shouted at her and turned on the TV. He loved his wife very much. Gabrielle thought to himself how anybody could think he would give up a wife that lets him watch the Playboy channel for just any woman. He leaned back and smiled.
I really enjoyed writing this story and hope all who read it feel the same joy I did writing it thank you.
