I have a confession to make. I don't relish doing this, but I must be honest.
I am narcissistic.
Did you catch that? Yes, it is true. I am narcissistic. Hopefully not to a terrible degree, but I have realized that I do like who I am and my writing, and won't complain about a little attention now and then.
What brought me to this epiphany? Good question. Well, the category is blogging, so it has to do with that. I have, on occasion, seen folks recommend other blog sites than JU. Being the semi-open minded person I am I have gone and tried said services. Blogspot, Modblog, MSN Spaces, tried them all. Not bad, really. Lots of nice customization features available at 'em even (especially Modblog and Blogspot).
But they just aren't for me. I am happy blogging away here at good ol' JU. Ups and downs are the part of any community, and I just can't help but feel a sense of community here that I missed at the other sites. Sure, there are some top articles, top bloggers and such listed. But it just didn't seem as easy to find new people. And there are ways to get more traffic to your blog (Blog Explosion for example). I tried 'em. Too much work (oh, did I mention I am lazy as well as narcissistic?). I have to go and browse through page after page of blogs to earn a view or two. I will stick with my favorites here and the new faces that find me via article syndication, the forums, and being on other people's favorites list.
I'm not really gunning for the points, but I enjoy the interaction. Topics end up being discussed at greater length, acquaintances are made and e-friendships have even formed for me here. I like that. I just haven't gotten that at other blog sites. So here I will stay. And here I will offer a thank you to everyone who has/does read my articles, and a double thanks to those who contribute. As much as I like writing, you are all the reason I keep at it. I tip my hat to you all.
