Having Problems with XP

I've installed GalCiv onto my new computer running Windows XP but for some reason it keeps kicking me out right after the intro movie. I can watch the movie or skip it with the same results, never reaching the Game menu. Has anyone ever experienced this or know how I can fix it? The game ran fine on my old computer.

did you install all the patches for the game? i had a simalar problem, but it went away after i updated to the most recent galciv version.

Sargon Dorsai: maybe something took your bink file associations.

Try installing the bink video tools from www.radgametools.com.  Also make sure that you have the latest video and sound drivers installed.  Even with XP pre-installed on new systems, you usually have to upgrade some drivers.

If you continue to have problems, download SmartException from Stardock Central's Free Stuff tab, and it will generate a crash log the next time that Gal Civ crashes.
