I say this is, without a doubt, a hoax. Dragon Models has already stated that the "hostage" looks exactly like one of their toys, and according to Chicago radiostation WLS (890 AM), the manufacturer claims many dolls were sent to Kuwait so the figures are available in the region.

No, Drudge got it before me, but that is perhaps because I have a job as something other than a journalist. I was familiar with Dragon's action figures, so had I seen the pic as soon as it was made public, I might have been able to get the scoop.
