this is a link from an article in The Jeff Rense news website , a letter from a lady who feels [like me] that songs and lyrics are going in to more and more lower standards then before
what it is interesting that the letter was addressed to Jeff Rense about his talk about the Decline of the American culture .well it doesn't happen in America only but it is all over the world ,even in the Arab world which I belong to
The Lyrics I consider the most important thing in the song after the music and sometimes it is even more important is being transformed from beautiful word expression of pure human feelings in to something of sex and violence obession expression
,the Arab world knew music ,lyrics and Poetry even before Europe ,it is said the "Poetry is the Language of Arabs".the music .the real music was invented in Bagdad ,then it was transferred to Europe through Spain under the Arabic Rule ,I studied in High School the Lyrics of songs that were the fashion at that time and I knew one thing then those poeple were very romantic
Time passed away ,in the last century ,the modern age ,the greatest arabic songs were presented by great singers like Thuma ,Halim ,Fairoz and even in English Frank Sinatra,Shirely Bassey ,..and other I cann't remember their names
for God Sake you will fear that your little children hear these nowadays songs
May be I am a romantic silly old fashion girl who likes romantic song with poetic lyrics
It isn't an american trend more it is world trend lyrics of sex ,violence drugs ,is everywhere now ,yet I recall something in the 20s of last century in My country Egypt ,sex songs were the trend then suddenly they were gone and no know remembered them ,the people got sick of them ,may be people will get sick of it someday
we need more romantic songs in more lives ,as we need more love in this crazy world
It is a huge problem because the Arts [music ,songs and lyrics are from it] are the mirror of the human society and its achievements
so may be these bad lyrics is a syptom of another bigger problem
