It just not as much fun anymore.

This was going to be an article about how JU has seemingly become a haven for hormonally charged teens, name slinging conservatives and small business owners who use it as free advertising and how those three things have made it not-so-much-fun for me to write here anymore.

But, I decided that pointing fingers is not the way to go, and that I am in no position to judge anyone, so I deleted all the bitchiness I had written and decided to just state very simply and plainly that for me, blogging has lost its charm.

It's just not fun anymore.

It's not because I don't have anything to say....heck, I've got tons of stuff to write about....I'm just tired of hearing the same stuff hashed and re-hashed over and over again.

I'm sure that you all must be tired of hearing me bitch about my life too.  That's why I've been scarce this past week; I've been trying to give myself (and y'all) a break....to see if maybe this is just a phase I'm going through; that I will get bitten by the blogging bug again after a hiatus.

I hope so, I really do.  I used to have a lot of fun here.....and I want it to be fun again.

I hear ya.It's like taking a drug that one has developed a tolerance for. The buzz is gone, but you still have that need. That's kinda what I was refering to in my blog Out of the Groove It seems that edge is...gone. Seems ya put alot of effort into something and don't get shit for it while folks drone on and on debating the same ole same ole.

Oh well...

Shovel, I sometimes think that you and I are related in some way.  We seem to be on the same wave-length about almost everything most of the time.....

...I guess I'm going to have to do one of two things:  blog the fuck on....or blog the fuck off.

I haven't decided which yet.

You poor thing! A good shrink might fix that...

No, I don't know why I stick around. I guess it's for those few, as they say in A A, moments of clarity when lightning strikes and you just...you just get in the zone if you know what I mean? I guess that's what being a blog junkie is all about, huh?

Well, JU would certainly lose a lot of its charm if both you, Dharma, and Shovel decided to go elsewhere. You guys are two of the reasons I'm still here. While not having been here for as long as both of you have, I too have grown very tired of the juvenile behaviour exhibited by a lot of JUsers. Drama kings and queens abound and I refuse to allow that sort of shit into my life anymore.

For purely selfish reasons, I hope you stick around Dharma. You too, Shovel. JU wouldn't be the same without you both.

Cheers,

Maso

I absolutely know what you mean, and that's why I stay.

While not having been here for as long as both of you have, I too have grown very tired of the juvenile behaviour exhibited by a lot of JUsers.

It's not just the teenagers either, there are some adults that are just as bad.  It makes me want to reach through my PC screen and shake some people until their teeth rattle.

For purely selfish reasons, I hope you stick around Dharma. You too, Shovel. JU wouldn't be the same without you both.

Thanks, Maso, and it wouldn't be the same without you either.  You're one of the reasons I stick around....and I honestly mean that, it's not just empty flattery.

I've decided I'm done being nice.  I'm going to say what I think and feel....and whilst I'm not going to verbally beat people up, I'm sure as hell not going to be all sweetness and light either.

I heartily second that, Maso. I really do.

I enjoy reading your articles, but if it's not fun for you, then by all means take a break or stop altogether.

Wow. Just wow.

For a while I was going at least one, maybe more blogs a day. And that was spacing myself out. The past couple weeks I have really tapered off for the very same reason. I have lots of things I want to write, but the thought of writing them just doesn't really pull me in. I have been taking some time off and I think it has been good for me and hope that it does the same for you dharma. You are one of the first here you really made me feel welcome and I hope to continue to see you here.

By the way, let me take this time to plug the Blog Navigator. I recently picked it up and found that one of the nice things is that I can just load the blogs I want to see and I don't have to see the rest. Sure, there are things I miss out on, so when I want to see everything I use the web. But otherwise I only see those I really want to see (like yours here) and nothing else.

Personally I have been inspired lately.  Somehow that coincides with the start of American Idol.

There's too much political idocy going on here on the weblog.

I rarely read political articles on purpose.  (Especially those ones that I may possibly disagree with.)  I also try to avoid writing about politics.

Americans can't have a civilized debate anymore.

I am not complaining about that however.  I don't like debating.  Nobody ever canges anyone's mind.

Take a deeeeeeeeeep breath and count to 10 then write whatever you want to...but NOT a farewell letter

Although they're not mutually exclusive, then do that. But don't leave.

Hang in there, Dharma. You may feel disillusioned, but there are plenty of us out here who benefit from your insight.

It would be sad to see you go, Dharma. One thing I've noticed that is if I blog about events in my life, barely anyone posts in my blog. The only time I get a lot of comments is when I post about politics. I'm hardly even political...maybe it's the majority of the community...all they think about is technology and political parties.

As for the kids, they need to just get their own reality show.

Like I said it would be sad to see you go, but if you have to, then I'm sure everyone would understand.

I have been thinking the same thing for a long time.

I miss the interesting and entertaining articles that were written by a bunch of different people. I personally don't like the really personal blogs about peoples relationships and having them air their dirty laundy, or whining with no plans to fix what it is they are whining about. I have become really good at knowing what titles and authors to click on and which one to not even bother. That is just my personal taste though. I know a blog should be any topic that the author chooses and I respect that. My problem is there aren't that many interesting articles any more.

Hang in there. I have been here almost a year and I have only written 28 articles. That is sad, but sometimes my stuff is too personal to share. So, I keep plugging on. You seem to be a staple around here and I think a lot of people would miss you.

My point is this place always goes though highs and lows and it will only be a matter of time before it is hopping again. That is just my 2 cents.

I'm willing to bet a lot of the children came from the fact that all your articles get posted on WinCustomize now.   That's not exactly a haven for intelligent comments or quality writers.

Don't leave me!!!!! I love hearing about your life!

Ah, Karen, it's always fun, it's just sometimes we aren't very much fun ourselves. Does that make sense?

You know I love you, so you just keep on with your bad self.

You want to have fun with somebody, I'll play you a game of chess or something lol

*big hugs*

I'm not going to leave, Ted, don't worry.  I'm just sick of the teenage drama and the name calling.

Americans can't have a civilized debate anymore.
No, we can't.  The self-professed conservatives around here are bad about name calling....as soon as someone with a different point of view comes along, they're automatically labelled as 'loony luddite leftie'  and whatever they say is pretty much ignored.  That pisses me off.

Take a deeeeeeeeeep breath and count to 10 then write whatever you want to...

I've been doing that.  In the past, I've asked myself if what i was going to say was #1 nice, #2 necessary, and #3 likely to upset anyone.  That's why I've kept my mouth shut.  I still don't like conflict, but in the past  I've sat back and watched character assasinations take place and haven't spoken up...and I realize now that I can't do that anymore.

Although they're not mutually exclusive, then do that.

No, they;re not, and I intend to.

Hang in there, Dharma.

I am.....

as for the kids, they need to just get their own reality show.

IMO, they need to grow up and start acting like the young adults they profess to be.  If they are what America's future looks like....well, I'm afraid we're fucked.

I have been thinking the same thing for a long time.

It seems that quite a few of us have been thinking the same thing....

My point is this place always goes though highs and lows and it will only be a matter of time before it is hopping again. That is just my 2 cents.

And your 2 cents is spot on as far as I'm concerned.

Don't leave me!!!!!

I wouldn't leave you, my love!  Don't worry about that!

You know I love you, so you just keep on with your bad self.

And I love you too....and I will keep on.  I'm sorry I didn't speak up sooner when 'she who shall not be named' attacked you, Mikey.  What she did was totally unnecessary, and I should have been a better friend to you and come out swinging on your behalf.

I'm not leaving, peeps.  Its going to take a lot more than this to get rid of me...

This is a non-issue, love. Really. You got to me when I needed people to get with me. Some of you never said anything in public but all to me in private...does that make you all wrong because you wanted to talk directly to me and not to the world? Oh hell, no! You lovely folks!

Karen, we're always kin me and you -- you're my sister so you don't ever wander far from me okay? If you do, you tell me where you are going and why so I can follow you in my thought. Because you are wonderful.

Didn't speak up sooner? You were one of the chief peace makers. You and Brandie made me see Sabrina for a human and you made her see me for one too, so when you think you didn't do enough, you just look to me saying you were perfection.

You are a good person and and excellent blogger. And if it needs to be more fun for you, you let me know, I can provide you with all sorts of fun, you lovely woman.

And I don't mean that in a perverse way. We could play Twister.

*grin*

I love you,

Mikey

I'm not going to be going anywhere, Mikey.  If I do, I'll tell you.

You and Brandie made me see Sabrina for a human and you made her see me for one

I'm glad that we could help.....I'm just sad that the entire scenario happened.

You are a good person and and excellent blogger.

Thanks.....but I'm really not all that.  I'm mediocre at both life and blogging....

I can provide you with all sorts of fun, you lovely woman.

Oooh, yes please!!!!!

And I don't mean that in a perverse way. We could play Twister.

Aww.....I was hoping for something a little more fun than that....naked Twister with lots of rum, perhaps?  That'd be fun!

I love you too, Mikey.  Lots and lots.

Dharma, it's good to see you're still blogging. It's bad to see the same things have been taking place since August. I hope you continue and I look forward to reading your blogs....

Well Im new here, sort of, but my vote is for you to stay as well. I don't know if what I write is interesting to other people but I write anyway, if not for others then I do it for myself.
Stick around, write and respond when you want and with what you want, perhaps the muse of "idle thoughts" will grace you again.

By the way, how is it that some of you seem to know other blogger's names? Is there some type of "inner community" around here? Have patience with me, im slow sometimes lol.
take care!

Scroll up to read KellyW's post.  That echoes my sentimets perfectly!

Read few blogs, comment on fewer.  It is easy enough to ignore the idiots if you put your mind to it.

That said: please read mine.  I will rarely offend anyone.

I think the real problem is that original blogs that don't reharsh everything don't get as much publicity since politics is such a popular topic.
In the spirit of being a total whore I will direct you to my blog Keeping It Surreal which at least tries to live up to its title. Sorry about the shameless plug.
