Stop Telling Me What to Believe!

another rant about my religion

Ok, now I'm up to the point where I can't stand it if someone questions if I'm following all of the "rules" of my church. I get hounded on all the time by my mom and dad. I feel my mom shouldn't say anything because she is not catholic, she's baptist. She hasn't been to a baptist church since she was a kid. She's not catholic, and she really doesn't know a whole lot about the catholic religion.

Anyways, yesterday at church, it was my week to serve. It's not the funnest thing in the world to do, but you really can't complain. The only bad part is that everyone at church gets to look at you the whole time. I really don't like that part. But anyways, when you are the server you also serve with another person. One of you usually goes into the church and lights the candles around the altar. So that's what I did. Well, we have this thingy called a tabernacle(sp?) and it holds the body of Jesus in it. You're supposed to genuflect(sp?), or bow and do the sign of the cross whenever you walk by it. Well I never do that. I really don't think that you should have to.

Well I guess I made the wrong choice. After church, my dad yelled at me for not bowing when I passed it. For one, I'm not going to bow when I have a flame in my hand. I mean come one, knowing me, I'd catch myself of fire or something. And two, I feel you shouldn't have to if you don't want to.

It's just like the whole thing with how I don't think you should have to go to confession to be forgiven. God will forgive you if you ask for it. That's what I believe. But, my church, however, doesn't. I always get yelled at about that too. And I hate it! It's my friggin belief, so let me believe in what I want to. Stop trying to control me!

Ok, sorry, but I had to let that out. I'm so spazed out about the whole thing.

You must follow the superstitions of the church. You cannot resist.

Take care, you'll get through it!

That's why I'm not Catholic...WAY TOO strict....all these rules and stuff....I do my own thing, as long as I believe and accept the teachings of God I'll be alright. I try to follow teachings as much as I can....well, except for once in awhile *cough* but other than that I just try to be a good person....and that's the best I can do.

Beebes@Work, what kind of name is that? lol j/k. Yeah, that's what people at church are telling me and Gideon suggested that I look into becoming Lutheran.

I'm luthern. my sister is Catholic. I've gone to weddings and funerals in catholic churchs and I prefer the "light " version. Fewer rules and ceremony.
Hope you get it worked out either way. Good Luck and God bless.
