Each time I rail against the Democratic party I get this thrown in my face:" There are plenty of Democrats willing to work with President Bush and the Republicans"< ok GIve me a list of members of the Senate and house that have come out and actually done more than "say" they will work with Bush,as of 2004 to date!

If you cannot back up your words with facts keep this mention out of my blog sight.

When you accuse me of mindless rhetoric, and spew the same crap at me how can you expect reasonable discourse?

I can fling Insult as well as the next guy, I can be just as unreasonable as the next person.
I can spew rhetoric and discontent as good as any democrat.

This is an opportunity fror reasonable discussion. Not some kind of trap. Use this if you dare. Be prepared to back up your stuff with FACTS, truth, and some common courtesy and I will return same.

Here's a list for you guys...

1.Rep. Jim Matheson (D) Utah. Votes repub more than 50% of the time. Skipped DNC convention. Son of the greatest governor we ever had.
2. Sen. Harry Reid (D) Nevada. A good party moderate and now the minority leader. Very much a conscience voter and a mormon to boot.
3. Sen Joe Leiberman (D) Conneticut. I dare you to call him a liberal.
4. Henry Waxman (D) California. A liberal, but votes with the repubs on a lot of issues. I seem to remember one of you righties thinking he was a repub recently.
5. Rep. Bob Menendez (D) California. Moderate chair of the Democratic house caucus who was a champion of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004
6. Rep. Harold Ford (D) Tennessee. Moderate In 2002, Ford teamed up with Rep. Tom Osborne (R-NE) to author the "Call to Service Act," and serves on quite a few financial commitees.

Two of those listed (Reid and Menendez) are serious players in the Democratic party. Joe is extremely influential, Waxman and Ford have clout, and Matheson has the connections to the repubs.
Also, Barack Obama is a moderate and has signaled a willingness to work with dubya on some issues.

I could go on, but i think you get the idea.

Hmmmm.....I dont remember seeing them voting against the democrats to stop the filibuster of the Judicial Nominees.  Maybe I missed them?

He did not ask for moderates (and Waxman is an asshole, not a moderate), but people who are defying the leadership of their party to try to work with Bush.  Reid has threatened to continue Daschle's filibuster tactics.  That is hardly working with the President.

So, it's really a pointless thread, because the left's ideas of what constitutes cooperation and your own are different. Your "peace" and "war" line makes me laugh because you all you want is conflict.

In my world at least, this is entirely untrue Myrr.

I'm willing to acknowledge, and even be thankful for people like Joseph Lieberman, John Breaux, Zell Miller, and others that are willing to work with the President and the Republican party to get things done.

I'll also admit that there are some Democrats like this, but... they can, and do, at times stand in lock step with party leadership like (former minority leader) Daschle and new leader Reid to block nominations, stop Social Security reform (if possible), stop Tax Cuts and more.

I understand that these people will not always swing to the conservative side, but I do appreciate when they do try to meet in the middle.

There are most certainly people on either side that just aren't going to move towards any consensus, and those people -- in my mind -- need to go. Unfortunately, in this country, with it's history of re-electing incumbents at astronomical rates, that likely won't happen. That's part of why I'd really like to see term limits (maximum of 18 years in any one office) for all offices throughout the country (except for Judiciary appointments, which, honestly might not be badded if capped at about 35 years). If such policies were in place, more politicians might be inclined to vote their conscience rather than the party line because they know they're gonna be replaced eventually anyway.

Personally, I'd say that this article is Great! I feel that a list of names has already been given so I won't take a go at that, however I would like to point out that any politician in his/her right mind is going to vote against a Bush policy that all of America really needs, such as any proposal to help our economy, treasury, education, etc. This means however that on some issues the Dems. will oppose many of Bush's policies for the same reason they are Dems. You don't just pull a party name out of a hat and stick with it, you choose a party that most incorporates your beliefs, there fore on some issues the Dems. will vote against it simply because they don't believe it is right or will work.

as long as someone.. anyone votes their concious I am fine with that its when dems and reps vote the party line that makes me crazy.

Personally, i didn't expect mod and miler to acknowlege anybody on my list. If they don't like who i put up, that's ok with me. I know their voting records. 5 of the 6 i listed are definately in the "moderate" catagory, and have shown a willingness to work with the repubs in the past.

Waxie...Well he's just a freak. I'll also agree with the asshole observation.

What i really don't understand here is why you righties feel as if nobody wants to work with dubya on issues other than the war or political appointees? The wheels still spin in DC when the s**t hits the fan. The government still has to do business and pass legislation. Dems and repubs work together every day to pass legislation. If the current administration wants to send sane and rational proposals to the house and senate there is a very good chance they will pass.

The problem is that with his percieved mandate, dubya thinks he can push a right wing agenda through the congress and everybody will blindly go along. This is where the conflict begins.

Two term presdents usually get smacked around more the second go around as well. My advice to you guys is to get used to it.

I have extolled the virtues of joe leiberman many times... There are some dems I totally agree with in many matters hence the moderate in moderateman... I do not lump you into any specific catagory could you try not to lump me?

got cha! All I can say is Bush has made mistake and these mistakes cause death.. but then again the nature of war is sick and twisted period.. All I ever wanted was for the dems and the reps to step up to the plate and ADMIT MISTAKES ARE MADE on both ends of the political spectrum.

That is not the issue or the thread. The issue is the left conttemptously calling bush a divider when he has tried to be a uniter (who wrote the NCLB act?), and got spit on by the left for doing so.

You may not agree with his politics, or his positions, but lay the blame where it belongs. At the feet of those who would rather demigogue their conttempt than to sit down and discuss the issues. You cant negotiate with clowns that sit on their hands and refuse to even discuss the issue.
