Personal Icon and Nickname meaning

Well I gotta tell ya, some of these personal icons are awesome. Jinn Fizz and Stupendous Man are two of my favorites. I'm interested in the meaning behind them. To some it just looks cool, to some there may be some history. Also, I think I know why BoXXi's is a box, but I don't know why he's BoXXi. What makes Corky_O Corky? Why does butch have a 123 and a motorcycle? What's a Jafo? Why did sbgFX kill the Spyder?

So if you got a minute, tell us why you chose your nickname and what, if anything, your icon represents.

I won't go first this time. Someone else.

SD... those avatars look good, so if it's ok with you, I'd like to use one of them? That first guy looks the part, tho the second might come into play if, by some feat of willpower and endurance, I happen to lose a bit of weight

I envision an avatar that shows someone mooning with a screen door pattern imprinted on the bum

Aimzzz...gave that some thought but our camera isn't up to taking panoramic or widescreen shots And the only bother that night was my regaining entry...the 'sadistic' woman in question thought it hilarious, whilst viewing my compromised situation through the peephole and refusing to unlock the door. 'Twas not funny.....my modesty, hiding behind an agitated cat

There are 2 versions for mine: the official story and the other one. Officially, "Wizard", which is my real nickname in several Ohio cities, is just too common on the 'net. The avatar was a picture I admired and resized for my use.
The other story, as is all too often the weirdest because of its truth, is this:
A friend of mine was getting obsessively drunk after fighting with his girlfriend and soiled himself. I laughed at him and called him "The Sh*t Meister" and he in return called me "The Wiz Monster" for similar reasons. The names stuck to both of us from then on...
The avatar was a picture that reminded me of a plastic model I once built that looked very much like it.
I don't know where "The Meister" is now, as he moved away after he split up with his girlfriend, but I'll bet bucks to beers he still laughs about it yet.

Starkers, I just cropped those from images off the web, so they're yours unless you try to sell them

SD...thanks for that. Will probably use the first when I can get around to sorting out the process to upload...just got a fair bit on right now.....puter problems again

aimzzz...I take it that you saw the funny side of it all...yeah, me too, after a few years to live down my embarassment. Glad there was nobody else around to do it, but I reckon a video would raise a giggle or two on Funniest Home Videos

I can't answer the question about whether you can change your nick, but if you can, how about something more affirming? I love your new avatar.
You can always change your display name but you can't change what people will call you (not without lots of deep personal effort )

My account > Account information > Vital stats > My Nickname. Change it to whatever you like.

If you haven't posted in this thread, please do. We want to know!

A few I'd like to hear from: RedBuzzard, ExodusCrow and Bash2Cool... we all know Bash isn't short for Bashful. What's the story?

If I didn't mention your name, I'd still like to hear about your nick & avatar. You're not exempt

Ms. Blindbatty just went to Blindbatty then again to; NEW NAME and a great meaning..

Cynder-Elluh

Goes back to my birth, my Dad wanted to name me Raquel and my mother and grandmother wanted to name me: Cinderella (yes, from the story), my Dad did not get his way but neither did my mother or grandmother.
I got a "version" of the name (Cinderella), so my new nickname at WC is decided. EVEN more different version of the name!!

mmm ... round the year 1999, I signed up at Yahoo, tried several different names, all taken... I love cacti and the desert, so came up with teddybearcholla ( a real cactus ), but had to be shortened to teddybcholla (yahoo only took so many letters)!
that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

Interesting thread.

the jist on my nick...
Shortly before purchasing my wc subscription, I decided I wanted something different to be known by. My previous nicks were lame. I thought...'I've been through 3 nicks already, 3rd time's a charm, I love the original Star Wars trilogy......trilogy it is!' So I thought - it was taken here at wc. So, similar to brncofan7, I changed the 'L' to a '1' and presto! Yep, its a keeper.

my avatar...
I cant fit tri1ogy in a 50*50px space and have it look how I want it to, so its just tri (perhaps even a play on try => keep trying). The colors? I was playing around in PS and really liked how the colors turned out. Besides, I've always favored a blue and white color combo.

Good idea you had SD!

(actually been through 5 nicks, but...Hey! Whats that over there?! *points, sneaks away*

Bichur: most commonly (and probably more correctly) spelled bichir - from polypterus bichir of which I have 2 (bichir was taken as a name on MSN my first ISP...and Walmart called them bichurs.....it's my nick.

often pronounced - biker == i like to ride

Troll (not iTroll) - used to be an alien, was sitting around reading a post and somebody got flamed so people jumped on the flamer, next thing I know they were all flaming trolls (iTrolls) - I was bored, looked up and saw my little aquarium troll in a stump...went hmmm.....picked up my camera....

Answer your ? SD?
