I CAN'T want to.

My son has recently started saying, " I CAN'T want to!" when he is faced with the unpleasantries of life, such as naptime or eating green vegetables.

I love that. "I CAN'T want to." Not, I DON'T want to, but I CAN'T. I know how he feels. "Oh, you want me to stop playing and having fun so I can take a nap? So sorry, mom. I would really, truely like to help you out here but I just can't."

I think that is a phrase I should start using...." Oh you want me to pay that bill? So sorry, I just can't want to. Have a nice day!"

Very funny. I know how he feels...unfortunately, with lots of unpleasant things, it doesn't matter if you WANT to...you still gotta do it.

i've tried telling him that, but he just falls back on the whine of ..."I Caaaaaannnnnnn'tt" Fortunately, I am still big enough to make him!

do you think if I threw myself on the floor and started to kick and scream that I would get my way at stores etc.? Just imagine it! hee hee hee

I like it....I think I'll try using that myself and see what kind of reaction I get!

Temper tantrums...hmm. I think they'd cart you off to the funny farm in a coat that you put on backwards if you pitched a fit in a store like that!

That's awesome.  I, too, am adopting the phrase.

I can't want to pay my bills, so I DON'T!!! I learned that I have that choice. Watched Office Space. Highly recommended.
