Wonderboy and Young Nasty Man took the stage after another generically crap set by Killing Heidi. The crowd, consisting of 70% sausage was vaguely interested, but only to secure a good vantage point for The D.
The backdrop was surreal. Magic castles, Roller coasters, Carnies, Ghost Train and a horizontally challenged Merry go round. Was I still at The Falls, or had I gone to Fairyland? Still trying to answer that one.
Dressed as Viking Gods of Rock JB & KG launched into "Flash". ("ahhhhh ahhhh.....Master of the universe...") This got everyone going, and then subtly blended into the autobiographical "Wonderboy".
The set pulled out many of the tracks from the "Live at The Brixton Concert"
Crowd favorites included "Kielbasa Sausage", "Explosivo", "Rock your Socks" and the lovingly crafted "FHG"(Fuck Her Gently).
At this moment it was clear there were some dedicated fans present as everyone sang word for word ...."You dont always have to fuck her hard, infact sometimes thats not right.... to do...".
"Jesus Ranch" was a personal favorite as well as the new "Kikkapoo", the story of Jack Black's life growing up in Kikkapoo, Arkansas. Very funny, and it Rocked! (Will be featured on their new movie this year)
KG's axe was on fire all fuckin nite. He is a seriously talented guitarman.
As midnight approached JB had the idea to count back from 666 seconds, made it to 657, until he realised 666 seconds is just over 11 minutes, "Fuck that, we'll do it from 13 seconds later... Lets Rock Now!" Pumping out another few The D stopped mid song to count down The New Year, "What better way to start 2005 than hard core Rockin!!! .....Woooooo!"
For those who caught the tram home, the carriage sing along should actually be included as part of the set as it rocked too. Especially if you got to wear JB's viking hat!
For those who didnt make it, keep your eyes peeled for a taste of The D.
