Has anyone used Easy Message?

http://www.easymessage.net
This software was presented as an alternative to using the AIM, Yahoo, MSN software, but do I have to install that stuff anyway to use EasyMessenger?

How does it work? Can't find any info from website.

I just downloaded it and am using it right now. Great little program, very resource lite and seems to be working well. But I already have all those other IM programs installed, so I couldn't tell you for sure. My guess is that you don't need them though.

Definately looking like a keeper to me. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, the only window popping up is the main window. There doesn't seem to be any way to add 'buddies'

werewolf: In the main window, under "My Accounts", just right-click on one of your accounts and choose 'Add a New Contact'.

Hmmm, I found what you were talking about, but I think I'm still missing something...

How do I set up a screen name and password? Can I do it online? Do I have to install the aim and yahoo software?

btw thanks for helping me with this

Do you have AOL, Yahoo or Hotmail email addresses? If not, then you'll have to go to Yahoo and Hotmail to get email addresses through them. Then you can setup the accounts in Easy Messenger. AIM is for "AOL Instant Messenger", so unless you're an AOL subscriber, then don't worry about that one.

Let me know if that doesn't make any sense.

Actually, because I was using a Yahoo message board account I have a yahoo name and sign on. I just figured out that it works for EM's yahoo. I don't have an AOL sign on. I'm going to search and find out if I can get a name and password without subscribing to too much LOL

Hee hee, just signed up for AIM express which got me a screen name and password....

werewolf is good to go.

AOLHell is right. I didn't have to install or download anything. We shall see what happens.

Uses more memory than Trillian, with a lot less features. Back to Trill for me.

Uses more memory than Trillian

?????

I agree it has less features, but minimized to the system tray Trillian is using 17,892 K of memory (according to Task Manager) and Easy Message is using 600 K. Odd.

I didn't try either program minimized to tray, since that's not how I use a IM client (I want to see who is online).
Tried that and Easy Message used 988K, and Trillian used 3,3400K (no where near 17,892K)
But it's really about the lack of what I consider basic features. And also EM didn't look all that great. It's skinned by WindowBlinds, but certain bits were not, and didn't blend well. Not a problem if minimized to tray, but like I said, I don't use IM apps that way.

Yeah, Trillian seemed to be using a lot. Which version do you use? I am using 3.0 basic. Might be the difference, I don't know.

I'm using v2.013 Pro. Haven't tried version 3 yet.

I hadn't used Trillian for a while until I tried 3.0, so I can't recall what it was like before, but I have heard lots of folks complaining that 3.0 is pretty resource heavy. By comparison with the previous versions that is.
