WOO HOO! Harry Potter VI is coming out in July!

All dignity aside--I'm delighted that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is getting released in the U.S. and the U.K. on July 16. 12:01 a.m., of course, though I intend to have my order into Amazon or some other site so that it will be delivered to me and I won't have to wait for our local bookstore to restock.

So seven months.... That's gonna seem like a long time, but it seemed like forever waiting for book V and there was a three-year gap between books III and IV, I'm told. I didn't start reading them until after book IV was out, so I got lucky in that respect.

Ahhh. I've never been addicted to a series before and I feel a bit like an 8-year-old child instead of someone 3x that age, but whatever. (Going from hating Harry Potter hysteria to being a big fan is another blog for another time.) Today is a good day--and what with the Dolphins beating the Patriots last night, and vacation coming on Thursday, this is shaping up to be a good week.

Yeah, I got up this morning and my wife said "Happy Birthday!" Which, of course, I replied, "Huh?"

My birthday is July 16 , so when she told me Harry Potter and the HBP was coming out on that day, I finally got it -- happy birthday to me, indeed!

My roommate sent me an email entitled "WOO HOO" this morning about the book coming out. I'd like to pretend I'm respectable and will order it on amazon in advance, but I'm not--I will wait in line at the book store for my copy at midnight.

The only book that I read new was the fifth one.  I started reading the first, then the second, then the third...

Once I was done with the fifth one, I thought: "Oh no!  There isn't a next one yet!"

I hope that I can remember what was going on in the fifth book by the time I get to read the new one. 

I'm counting on a pretty thorough recap in the introduction chapter.

I have an idea how it is going to end...  Want to hear it?

I think that Harry (near the end of the last book) gets killed by Voldemort; however because of his relationship with a phoenix (the feather in his wand) Harry will come back to life and eventually win the final showdown.

my daughter has already earmarked some of her savings account for that book.  she and i are going to be at our local borders at 1201 am on the 16th to get our reserved copies of it.....and this time, i'm getting my own copy!  it sucked having to wait to read someone else's!

Ah, see, I still have some agorophobia instincts. I do all my shopping online to avoid people, esp. 12-year-olds dressed up as witches and wizards and generally scary individuals outside of my imagination.

Okay, just kidding. Actually I think you're going on something there: Obviously Fawkes plays a role, since both Harry and Voldemort have a feather of his in their wands.

Daughter saving up and you getting your own are both admirably intelligent ideas. I, too, shall get my own. H won't be seeing me for a few days (depending on this one's length).

I am looking forward to it as well. I hadn't heard this yet, so this is breaking news for me. My wife and I are big fans, and I have been lamenting the fact that number 6 wasn't out ever since I finished re-reading them all a couple of months ago.

I would say Harry Potter was about the 6th or 7th series I was addicted to, so you could say I am a seasoned vetetan at waiting for installations. It's awesome when you stumble upon a series that is already completed, then you can read them all one after another, some may say it's unfortunate to live now.. with Harry Potter incomplete... you are probably one of them! hehe...

You my friend, are the harbinger of excellent news, as I had not heard this before I read your wonderful blog. I think I will have to freshen up on the first 5... for the third time around... I have until July!

With regard to your dignity being affected by liking Harry Potter: I used to work in the Neuroscience department of a major university and you would be amazed at the number of Ph.D.'s axiously awaiting the next book. Plus, anything that gets people to read is a good thing! I, too, shall be pre-ordering my copy from Amazon.com.

(chuckles) my daughter and i are both anxiously awaiting the new book, there will be only one caus i get to read it forst... won't take me as long. is a good series.. and written for kids and adults as well.. is fun to watch the characters grow and develop.
