I wonder if he received government funding for this? Wonder what makes this art and not grounds for commitment to the state hospital?

A British performance artist has been living like an earthworm for more than week as part of a contemporary art event in England, according to a Local 6 News report. Paul Hurley has been in plastic wrap slithering through muddy holes in Devon, United Kingdom, as part of the event. His series of performances, "Becomings Invertebrate" investigates humanity in the natural world. In one of his earlier performances, Hurley coated himself in KY Jelly and played the role of a slug and has also performed as a snail licking the inside of a greenhouse. Hurley plans to become an insect for his next performance.

Where is she now, I wonder? The things people do....

Kerra Fowler is a mother of four who decided to wear her opposition to President George W. Bush on the back of her head. She offered up on eBay her shaved skull for an anti-Bush message and received a tattoo of a large W, complete with a cowboy hat, with a red slash across it after a sympathetic buyer bid $103.50. Fowler, 29, said she placed her eBay advertisement with an opening bid of one penny after seeing two others offering to sell space on their heads for tattoos backing Democratic candidate John Kerry.

Probably so. Think the $105.00 she received off ebay was worth it? I don't even think $105 would cover the cost of the tattoo. In 4 years, will she get a cover-up tattoo against the next Republican candidate?

How funny! And they tried to call me crazy because my family wanted to and have tried to drive me insane using electronics. I wonder if I go crawl around like a worm what would happen, would they commit me or fund me? Something to ponder maybe.

Call it art. Then they will fund you.
Call it your life. They will commit you.

I've never understood modern art. What was so bad about simply painting or sculpting something you see?

You should have seen where I worked in the 80s.  For any of you Modern Art Lovers, you have probably Heard the name of Sidney and Francis Lewis, and the crap they bought that was called Art!  They also owned Best Products (now defunct).

About 10% of the stuff they displayed at the corporate headquarters look like it took any talent or imagination.

Gee, I hope that's not what your family is using to drive you crazy.

I don't know, but I think at some point painting and sculpting were not seen as creative and unique enough....

Was it along the lines of Robert Maplethrop? Now he was a piece of work.

No, none of this was intentionally offensive.  It was just stupid stuff like a victorian dress cut open and splayed on a board, a hangar full of painted rags, a picture of a bunch of black and white squares, a 6' clothes pin......

Wow. I have a house full of that kind of art....just not displayed as such.

Actually, what he is doing is "Performance art" which I understand even less than modern art.  (Unless it's the sub-genus of Modern Art known as "Pop Art" which I find pretty cool).

Yes, he is doing "performance art." I am very familiar with it. I went to a performing arts high school. It can be fascinating, but usually bizarre. Doesn't usually take a whole lot of talent either, just guts and exhibitionism.

I did not go to any art school, but that is my interpretation of performing art as well!

It could. Did you get government funding and advertise? Did you call it some creative title or just plain streaking?
