creating widgets

i am extremely new to the wincustomize...etc.. if i wanted to make a widget what program would i use to make it...is this an instance where any image file can be used and how would i do the scripting if any at all.. ive downloaded some of the weather and calender programs and would like to design one myself...

All you need is a copy of DesktopX. A widget is just a DX object saved as an .exe file.
