ok here's another bootskin question!
i've downloaded the bootskin_free.exe program on my (D)install drive open it and it asks if i want to run it (YES). then i download some skins they come in a zip file.i've tried all diffent ways to get it to work.my xp is running on (C) drive.
when i click on the skin to extract the files where do i need to exstract it to any where? I usually extract to a folder i made(unzip here). do i need to even unzip it?i also see you tell people to rename the file.
before i unzip it? i can't cause it's still a zip file right? after i unzip it? after i unzip it,it now shows program file. if i click it it just goings on and and and stops at skins
i've tried all the different bootskin.exe files so I need some help please.

It is really easy. Download the skin. Then open the bootskin program. Up at the left- hand on top, click on file. Then click on 'import from file....'. Locate the downloaded file in the popup box(I usually download the new skins to the skin folder so I know where they are.) Click on newly downloaded file. Click on open. Bootskin will extract the files and place them in the skin folder. It will give a confirmation that the skin has been installed and ready for use. All you need to do then is click on the skin and click on apply and the program should say this skin will be used on the next boot up.

thanks but it did not work.
download to:
program files\stardock\bootskin\skins
then i open bootskin\import
it shows it but it won't import it cause it's not a(*.bootskin) file
I've even tried to unzip it to (skins)
I'm having the same problem with logons
but the cusorXP.exe runs just fine

make sure the .bootskin file you download is .bootskin (its actually a zip file, with the extension renamed). mozilla (on my machine) likes to add .zip to .bootskin files because it recognises it as a .zip file.
so just rename the zip file to .bootskin.

rename the file when the download box appears it was thinking it was a zip file had to change to (all files)
the add .bootskin
