im on a family computer, ive seen some of the cool things desktopX can do so i dl it but havnt got any skins for it yet. if i install a skin how do i deactiveate it incase something goes wrong and will affect the other users?

There should be a DesktopX icon in the toolbar. Right click and "Unload DesktopX".
