Modifying Bootup Splash screens

Back in the 9x days we modified or replaced the files logos.sys, and logos.sys, in the windows root directory with MS Paint or a similar editor.

How is it done in NT, 2K, and XP?

Many people just use third party apps to accomplish this on 2K and XP.

Probably the safest way, since none of the MS files are changed, is Stardock's bootscreen app that China linked to.
