Bootskin help, please

Hey. I am trying to do my first bootskin. I am using Photoshop, I index the colors to 16 and save as a .bmp then place them where they go. But when I restart my computer to see it the colors are all messed up and crappy looking. I am guessing its how I saved the pictures. What settings did you guys use (photoshop)

Crapy as in it dosn't even look like what it looked when I changed it to 16 color.. color is off and it justlooks like someone threw up on the screen. I know its suppost to look crapy.. but not so crapy you can't make out "Windows XP"

Because other peoples bootscreens are looking about 1000 times better than mine is.

If you are using a progress bar, the palettes for both BMP's must be EXACTLY the same.

Save the palette from the main BMP and load it into the progress BMP.

or creat the main BMP with the progress bar in it, and then cut out the progress BMP and save it seperately

China...it's 4 bit, not 16...

 

The two images MUST have exactly the identical palette...or the resuls will be as you have yours.
