App preview flickers and taskbar hangs using "enhance the taskbar"

I hover over Task Manager button, then move mouse to WinMerge button. Task Manager preview flickers and I can't do anything with the taskbar. Issue stops if "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar" is disabled

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version Start11 v2.55 Beta) available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products.  Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Thank you for the response. I followed your instructions, and the taskbar app preview stopped flickering but showed on the left-hand side of the monitor instead of over the icon (which was on the right side due to the number of pinned icons (26) and text showing next to the icons, so the taskbar was filled across the monitor).

After opening the settings to combine the taskbar buttons and opening winmerge next to task manager, the flickering started again with the preview window flickering in the middle of the screen. Other times there just wasn't a preview window visible at all. 

Disabling enhanced taskbar makes the preview window behave normally again, even with taskbar buttons combined.

Is the Flickering issue appear only while using WinMerge?

The flickering happens with any programs, after the first app preview is displayed correctly, it starts flickering when I move to the next icon. It's only when Enhance Taskbar is selected, doesn't matter if I've restarted Explorer or rebooted.

Just as a test, uninstall WinMerge, reboot the system, turn on enhance taskbar, does the issue appear?

I am having the same problem as tkdennis. The taskbar returned to normal once I disabled the enhanced taskbar features.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe to get these numbers.
  2. Start11v2 full version numbers.
  3. Do you also have "WinMerge" running in your system as what the OP mentioned above?

Have either of you installed anything which might alter how the taskbar or explorer works?  Something like windhawk mods?
