Start11 opens on the left of the screen on startup, even thought is configured to be centered

Hello all, I hope you guys are alright.

Recently I bought Start11 from Steam.

I was customizing it, testing the features and etc..

The days came and went and I noticed an wrong behaviour from Start11: when I turn on my pc and Windows boots up, when I press the left windows key (All of my kb only have one Windows key), it opens on the left of the screen:

Start11 opened on the left while taskbar is centered

On the same time, if I click with the left button of the mouse, it opens the default Windows 11 menu:

Important infos:

Windows version: 24H2 (Build 26100.3915)

- Windows Taskbar settings:

- Taskbar aligment: Centre. If I change to left, taskbar icons move to the left, it keeps opening from the left, and if I change back to centre position, same behaviour.

- Start11 service is on automatic, it launches with Windows.

- Start11 version: 2.51

- Start11 configs:

Start Button config

Taskbar config

Control config

Start11 menu > Right mouse click > Taskbar > Restart explorer doesn't work, as mentioned on print 4.

I also have other programs like: Windhawk, ExplorerPatcher, Nilesoft Shell, but they seem compatible with Start11.

How do I fix:

I open steam, launch Start11 > Restart explorer and it fixes it

Expected behaviour:

Start11 should remember its default position, so I don't have to manually reconfigure everytime I turn off/on my pc.

Is there something I am missing?

Thank you!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. First, please try, uninstall Start11v2, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products . Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Thank you,

Hey basj, thank you for the quick reply.

I bought Start11 from Steam. There are no available downloads to me on https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products.

That reinstallation process is also valid with the Start11 steam version?

I am sorry, instead of download it, just install it from your Steam library. Remember to reboot after the uninstalled, reboot again after the re-install. Retest and report back.

Thank you,

Ok.

I will do that, and do some reboots within the day to check more times, and then (maybe tomorrow) I will report back to you. :)

I uninstalled, rebooted, installed, rebooted and unfortunately, I got the same result:

Any more information I may provide to help us fix that?

I have tried the cleanboot.

> I disabled everything except Start11 service, rebooted and the same behaviour keeps happening: win key -> opens on the left, m1 click -> opens default Windows start menu.

Any more idea or any informations need to make an more deep analysis?

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Hello again.

I did everything as mentioned, and unfortunately, keeps happening.

Looks like a very specific error.

I have searched for existing topics about this problem and I have not found. There are other user mentioning this weird behaviour, os is only me?

I know it's probably hard to remember, but did you install any software during that intervening period?

Did you do any registry editing during that period?

Do you remember Start11 behaving as expected and then suddenly changing, or was it always off?

Just trying to help.

Hi DrJBHL.

I was looking for the installation date of some apps (through BCUninstaller) and I saw ExplorerPatcher (I'm going through a recente Windows reset, installing apps again, configuring, etc.). I opened its settings and I saw:

The "Taskbar Style" was: "Windows 10". I changed back do "Windows 11 (default)". By just using the "Restart File Explorer (*)" button it did not work, but rebooting resolved it! I rebooted and logged back into Windows and both, Windows key or mouse1 started to open Start11 Menu in the desired position!

Right now I can't reboot it again (work is calling), but later today I will do some extra tests to determinate that it was 100% resolved.

Good to hear, TGC.

That doesn't explain the inability to upgrade from 1803. I suggest you run sfc /scannow as an administrator. It'll take all of 3 minutes. You'll see if there was system file corruption and it'll be fixed. Can't harm.

Hey,

Aftert a lot of testing, I am 100% sure that it was ExplorerPatcher's Taskbar style set to Windows 10 who created the problem.

Thank you guys for your helps and quick answers!

You're welcome

It's never a good idea to have two apps which affect the same area in the GUI unless it's Stardock with Winstep. They complement each other.
