Start11 screen freeze

On four occasions over the last three months the screen has frozen when I have pressed the Windows key. The Start11 menu appears but no keys will function. I reinstalled Start11 before the last freeze. Otherwise it works fine and I have no other issues, and no freezes related to anything else.  Windows 11 Pro, 24H2. Start11 2.52.3 Business edition.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know your Windows 11 24H2 OS Build number. Use Winver.exe.

Thank you,

I am on Win 11 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3915) and I don't see any freezes. Would like to know what you was doing when or before the freeze happen? Can you reproduce the issue freely. If, so please step it out and we will try to reproduce the issue.

Thank you,

I certainly can't reproduce the issue freely, it only happens occasionally. But always after pressing the Windows key with me looking at the Start11 menu. If it happens again, I'll try uninstalling Start11; that's a nuisance but not as much as losing work.

Perhaps something else is interfering with Start11. Have you tried restarting Explorer.exe and see if the freeze issue get unfreeze. Here are some steps on how to restart Explorer.exe. https://www.howtogeek.com/198815/use-this-secret-trick-to-close-and-restart-explorerexe-in-windows/.

It's happened again and this time I did lose work. Even every four months is too often. I was looking at a frozen/hung Start11 menu with none of the controls functioning, no keys, no mouse, nothing. So your suggestion above could not be tried. That's the end for Start11 with me.

End of del139's quote

If your mouse pointer did not respond to any movements then it sounds like your entire pc froze.  This will not be a Start11 issue as it is a user mode app which would not do that even if it wanted to.

My best guess would be a video driver hang triggered by the open animation but that would be purely the responsibility of the device vendor.

OK, but as I've said above, it only happens when I am looking at the Start11 menu after pressing the Windows button on the keyboard. It didn't happen before I installed Start11. It seems reasonable to make a connection. I've uninstalled Start11 so if it happens again with the normal Windows 11 menu I'll be back here to eat my words. Until then..
