It is not on the online profile - on the desktop Start 11 application - I thought I had posted this in the Start Software forum. Apologies if I have not.

You're asking how to remove or change your picture from/on the Start Menu? Certainly didn't sound like it in your original post.

How do i get the profile picture to change - I cannot see the setting or option anywhere

End of quote

If that's your intent, to change your user picture, do it via your account on your computer.

If you want no picture on your Start menu, you''ll have to do that via Skin Studio.

Try and describe what you wish to do, you can use a screenshot to help...

If you're asking for your Windows account picture, that picture is from your Windows user account. There is no setting in Start11 for that. If you wish to change it, you will need to change your Windows account picture. Once that is change, restart explorer.exe or reboot your system and Start11 Start panel should update your User account picture accordingly.

OK - my device is a works computer and the user account is on 365.  I have managed to hide the profile pic icon as id does not use the profile picture from my windows account - here is a screen shot with the profile icon being displayed.

Okay, when you say a 365 Account, are you talking about a Windows 365 Cloud PC?

What do you see on this page?

That’s the avatar that should show in the start menu. How about if you try some of the other menu styles, do you see it then?

Your IT department may have a Group policy preventing this. Does it show in the Windows 11 default start menu, or other apps that use the Microsoft avatar?

My profile pic does show in other apps that use it, and on the default start menu - which is what is throwing me - what group policies do you think may be the root cause? Does anyone have any experience as this could be a minfield?

Would like to suggest to try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), re-download latest available Start11 version. Install it, reboot immediately again after installation is done. Retest and report back.

If your picture is showing in the Default Windows start menu, it's probably not related to a Group policy setting. I would suggest that you follow Basj's instructions in Reply #13.

I have just completed the steps in Reply #13 and still have no profile pic from my account.
I have checked the company's group policy, and none of it interferes with the User Account settings.

Have you tried with some other photos? Try to change it with a jpg image 256x256 pixels just to see if that makes any difference.

Interested to know few more details.

  1. Your Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 full version number.

Is this a new issue and it was working before? If it was working before, what changed recently that might causing the issue?

Also, do you have any other 3rd party application install or mod done to change your Start panel or Explorer that might conflict with Start11?
