Please Try this:

  1. Backup your settings to a file.
  2. Reset Start11 settings.
  3. log off and log in again. Does the black box issue still show up?
  4. Restore you backup setting and see if the issue return.

Thank you,

after reset

I know you're trying to help, but you're making me do the same things over and over again expecting a different outcome. Someone said you can forward this case to the actual developers. I think I've waited long enough for that.

I have been using Start11v2 since it was introduced. I have never had any issues until I installed 2.4.9.0 over the previous version (2.1.1.0). I tried both the uninstall/reinstall, and purge and reinstall, neither of which helped. I ended up doing a hard uninstall by removing the Start8 folder in the Stardock registry settings at "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8", deleting all the Start11 folders from Program Data, App Data>Local, and Program Files (X86). After rebooting and a clean install and activation of 2.4.9.2, everything was working as expected. I used a backup from before the original install of 2.4.9.0 to restore my settings, and had to spend very little time getting it back to where it had been before.

If you try to restore your settings from a new backup, you're liable to reintroduce the same issues again. Make a new backup just in case, so you can at least get back to where you were.

This would be a last case scenario, if nothing else works.

I am a hardcore Stardock user and run most of their top tier programs on my system. I very rarely have any of the issues that others report, but this case was the exception.

Hope you eventually get to a solution. It's definitely worth it.

Something introduce the black box on top of Start11 start menu. What I suspect it either something else is causing it or something strange in your setting to cause an overlay of black box appear. I am trying to figure out what or where it come from. It might be repetitive to you, but I believe we're moving along. Do let me know if don't wish for me to help you and I will let others to help you. Your choice.
