Annoying Bug in Start11v2

Windows Icon Disappear After Installing Start11v2

I purchased Start11v2 via Steam a few months ago. This problem's occurred since I updated it (maybe Jul).

The default Windows Icon wouldn't display when powered on, so I had to use customized icon.

Im used to center icon on task-bar, but the experience is getting worse due to this problem. Appreciate it if anyone can solve it. 😀

Sorry you ran into problems. I'm not Support, just a fellow member.

Please run winver and tell us what version you're on. There are a few things you can try until Support sees your post but remember, this is info from the net, not an official Stardock Support solution:

1. Restart Windows Explorer or Start Menu Experience Host: Try restarting these services to see if it resolves the issue.

2. Clear Icon Cache: Run a batch script or use a third-party tool to clear the icon cache and see if it restores the missing icons. I'd suggest running DesktopCmd.exe first as it's free.

3. Disable Windows Tablet Mode: If enabled, disable tablet mode and see if it resolves the issue.

4. Check for Corrupted System Files: Run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to detect and repair corrupted system files, which may be contributing to the issue. From an elevated command prompt run: sfc /scannow

5. Restoring Windows icons: To restore Windows icons, you can follow these steps:

  • Windows 11:
    • Click Start, then Settings, and select Personalization.
    • Click on Themes, then scroll down to Desktop icon settings.
    • Select the system icons you want to show on the desktop (e.g., This PC, User Files, Network, Recycle Bin, and Control Panel) and click OK.
  • Windows 10:
    • Right-click an empty space on the desktop, hover over “View”, and click “Show desktop icons”.
    • Alternatively, you can also use the Taskbar and Navigation Properties window:
      • Right-click on the Taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
      • Click on the “Navigation” tab and check the box next to “Show desktop icons”.
    •
    • Please report back.

Thanks for ur help. Im using the latest version of Windows10 Home.

Maybe my description is a little off. The problem is, when I turned on my computer, the Start Button on Taskbar disappeared. However, when I turned the switch on and off, the icon reappeared.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details, as mentioned by Doc above.

  1. Windows 10 full version and OS number Please use Winver.exe. Just saying "latest version Windows 10" are not sufficient.
  2. Start11 full version number.
  3. Post a screenshot on this "when I turned on my computer, the Start Button on Taskbar disappeared. However, when I turned the switch on and off, the icon reappeared."
  4. Do you have any other application that control how your taskbar work such as, Windowblinds, StartAllBack or any other, installed in your system?

Thank you.

I don't know if this is relevant, but it seems like there was a setting in Start11 to hide the start button when running Windows 10. I can't remember where this setting is located, but I know it existed because I used it to hide the start button when I was running Windows 10.
