Fence 5.53 auto-arrange fences no longer works in RDP

Hello,

Since the upgrade to version 5.53 from version 5.05, the automatic resizing of fences no longer works when I use RDP on my professional PC.

I don't understand the reason that led to this change when everything was working correctly with version 5.05. Why change what works well?

I followed the instructions for the multi-monitors but nothing changed.

Thank you in advance for your ideas. Including how to download version 5.05 of Fences again.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Fences 5.53 change its layout engine to help with issue reported by others on various multi-monitors issue. Issue such as Fences lost it layout when users update their graphics card drivers. Lost layout after playing games that change monitor resolutions etc.

Just to clarify, have you tried the "Troubleshooting" steps mention in the first post of this thread? https://forums.stardock.com/528229. If you did all those steps and still having issue. Please report your issue in that thread. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thank you.

Hello,

I followed the "Troubleshooting" steps correctly. I selected the same "Layout management & backups" settings.

RDP: The problem seems to be corrected after I resized the fences on the remote PC that I control remotely (RDP) which has a lower native resolution (1680x1050) than my source PC (1920x1080).

Another problem detected: on a PC in 1920x1080 resolution with fences distributed over the entire screen, if I change the resolution to 1680x1050 (i.e. lower), the fences are not reorganized!?! The fences which are at the edge of the screen are therefore no longer entirely visible (cut in two), this worked very well in version 5.05.

Thank you :-)

Any reason you change to lower resolution? Playing games? If so, when you get back to your normal resolution does the layout return to its position as expected. For the lower resolution, you might need to manually adjust your layout for that resolution and save a special layout snapshot for that resolution. Load that resolution when you change to lower resolution. Or you can try those other layout auto-adjustments setting. like "Preserve my layout by scaling my Fence groups".

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. So I modified my following settings:

- Layout auto-adjustments: Store my layout on a per-monitor by scaling my Fence groups

- Layout spacing & snapping:
X Keep groups lined up when moving
X Keep groups spaced 0 pixels apart when moving
X Keep groups sized to even multiples of icons (1x1, 2x2, 3x2, etc) when resizing

And it works for the two problems I noted (local PC and remote PC accessed in RDP). Fences move and resize correctly depending on the resolution.

Thanks again for the quick response.
Best regards.
