See Screen but no mouse and keyboard control.

All, I have a laptop which connects to a computer in a rack in an adjacent Audio / Visual room for control of our boardroom.  I connect via KVM cause I need complete control of the remote workstation.  When I tried this with RDP it turned off all of my video so that did not work.  Multiplicity works perfectly except sometimes when I connect I get the screen capture but the mouse and keyboard does not work.  Anybody know what I might be doing wrong?  I would say it works 75% of the time, but I would like the problem to go away completely.  Both systems are on the same subnet, although sometimes I am on the WiFi (also the same subnet).  Thanks in advance.
