Fences5 will not install

I have Fences3 (expired) and Start11 installed. I bought Fences5 and downloaded the installation file.

When running it I encounter a problem ("sharing violation") which causes the process to stop. I have cut and saved the error messages as JPGs, but cannot paste them here.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try uninstall Fences 3, reboot, install Fences 5, reboot again. retest and report back. To paste image in this forum. Use one of these icons.

Uninstalling does not work - there is no Fences in the Control Panel programs list and trying to run the "Uninstall.exe" in the Fences sub-library terminates with the eroor message "Invalid start mode: archive file name". This file has today's date.

Will try to send the error messages from the unsuccessful Install.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you!

When preparing for proceeding with you instructions I'm unable to get anything on the link relating to Fences Snapshots. I get five boxes on a screen that also announces that Stardoc.com is up for sale, but the boxes have nothing re Snapshot.

The Best!

Johan

To take snapshot refer to screenshot below. Its under "Snapshots" tab-> Click on "Take snapshot" button-> a Give snapshot a name pop up Window appear. Give it a name and click ok. Your Layout snapshot should then appear under "Layout snapshots" list.

Snapshots - OK

I've now run the purge and re-install process as per your instructions. And it works! (eventually)

However, I had to run it two times and accept two sets of error messages during the process. Bad for the fainthearted!

Many thanks for your quick help - a credit to Stardock!

All the best - Johan
