Sorry you had that happen. This is not a normal result of installation. It's possible the Fences app got corrupted for some reason. Dis you install Fences before or after the Patch Tuesday update?

Were you eventually able to get your computer to boot?

Try uninstalling Fences and then restart. Download a fresh Fences installer from your account downloads and install. Make sure to reboot after the install finishes.

Also, What version and build of Windows are you running? What version of Fences 5 did you initially install?

  • When I start the desktop I get the lenovo logo then nothing. I bought the software from the site. So not sure of the version
  • It just goes from the lenovo logo to nothing but when I initially woke the PC from sleep 5-6 boxes popped up in quick succession saying something about Fences 5 fatal error

I doubt seriously that this issue is caused by Stardock software. Something unrelated might have happened when Fences was trying to load and caused the Error messages to pop up. This could be caused by so many different things, that without more information it is difficult to try and help you.

To me it almost sounds like a hard drive problem. Specifically if you can't get past the lenovo screen. Did the harddrive come loose or die on you? Otherwise it could be a corrupted version of Windows itself.

Fences is an explorer.exe extension. I believe it loads up a short time after explorer does itself. If it were the culprit I would expect either explorer wouldn't load or it would crash after a full boot up and log in

I am bringing the pc in for service tomorrow and if it is determined fences crashed my pc expect that I will take this to social media.

The only messages that popped up were fatal errors with fences so the app is Involved..

This is what I was thinking as well. The BIOS is loading since you are seeing the Lenovo logo, but the OS is not loading which means the BIOS can't find your system drive.

There is nothing about any of the Startdock software that would cause a fatal error. That's usually a hardware issue.

Just curious. Did you get your PC back from service? Was there a hardware issue, or was it some kind of software problem?
