Hourglass Hangs Taskbar

I am running version build 22631.3155.  I use this computer primarily in the evening and at least once a night, when I go to click on the taskbar, I get an hourglass.  Then, later, if I click again, the whole taskbar refreshes.  It can happen several times a night, whether I reboot, or not.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know your Start11 version number.

Thank you.

I had a prior version that I installed last week.  Tonight I updated to 2.06.  I will report back if I continue to have problems.  Hopefully, the update will help.

If you continue to have problems then the OS event log may have more information.

I am continuing to have problems. and it became problematic so that I could not use the computer.  I uninstalled Start 11 and the problem improved.  I then reinstalled Start 11, and with every click on the taskbar, I had the problem.  The problem is as follows:

1. I have the taskbar set up so that the icons are small, they are not combined, and there is no label on the icons.

2. I launch a program and it does OK.

3. I click on the taskbar to either run another program or change windows, and nothing happens.

4. I then move the cursor away from the taskbar, and then onto it, and there is a hourglass.  During this time, I can cycle across windows with Alt-Tab

5. I click on the taskbar, and the bottom of the screen disappears.  The taskbar briefly reappears with large icons, and labels on the icons.  Then it reverts back to the Start11 settings.

What additional information can help debug this problem?  I am not sure where to get the OS Log.

In the meantime, I have removed Start11.

Thanks.

Hello,

  1. Do you have any other 3rd party software installed that might interfere with Start11?
  2. Please try this, re-download latest available Start11v2 version from your product page, install it. Reboot immediately after installation finished. Retest the issue. If the issue still appear, please try cleanboot: https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#cleanboot

Thank you,

I needed to get a new computer because the keyboard stopped working.  Everything was fine until I installed Start11 again.  I therefore uninstalled it and the problem persists.  Is there some other way to debug this problem?  Thanks, Mitchell

You can try cleanboot as I mentioned above.

If you uninstalled Start11 then Start11 should no longer be installed and so should not be causing this.

Is it possible you also installed something else about the same time?

I had several BSOD's and reimaged today.  Still having problems.  For the moment, I am holding off on installing Start11.  I will be back to you with any progress update.

Thanks!
