Groups Can't Be Positioned

Groups after 11 v2 install are Gone

Groups worked great under 10, 11 v1, but while I can create groups I can't position them on the start menu. I must have that. Large number of software items, in these categories, which works great on a large 4K monitor (no dual 1080 displays for me!).

Browsers (a lot, > 10, useful for testing SW and different Gmail accounts) plus FTP and similar "internet" stuff

Media Tools (ever since I started using Plex and ripped the DVDs I own)

Software Engineering tools (these need a whole page, from code tools / IDE's to databases to app servers)

Administration tools - think of everything in "Administration Tools" in Windows, plus anti-virus and a lot more

Having groups shown vertically as a list just doesn't cut it. The old v1 version was so superior. If there is a setting to allow arranging things as a grid, where is it? I hadn't changed it in Start 10/11 v1 in years, so I can't remember the old one, but I do remember it was easy to find.

The new v2 is, therefore, a throwback to the ugly Windows 8 where we were supposed to launch everything with a start menu search because icons just weren't practical compared to Win 7. That's what got me to pay for Start 10, once we got Windows 10. Now the start menu is a poor copy of what it was for years. I'm not a kid running a games.

That uninstall / re-install also killed any groups I might have had. If I'd known I could save the configuration in start 10 or Start 11 v1 I'd have done so. Don't remember that being obvious - even things like the browser tool "Script Safe" makes it obvious how to save the settings locally. The previous version didn't although it was easy to find in 11 v2, I concede that.

Which menu style are you using?

Different user, same issue.  Am using Windows 10 menu format. All icons medium size.

Rows 1-3: Group 1 (3x3)   Group 2 (3x3)   Group 3 (3x3)   Group 4 (3x3)

Rows 4-6: Group 5 (3x3)   Group 6 (3x3)   Group 7 (3x3)   Group 8 (3x3)

In upgrading to recent Stardock v2, group 8 disappear. I did create a new group, but I cannot move it to Group 8's former position.

End of AGKurz's quote

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing and ideally export your Start11 settings and send me a private message with a link to the settings file so we can try to reproduce it locally.
