Start11 Pinned menu folders

Worked for a while, but no longer

I'm on a trial of Start11.  I created a pinned menu folder, and it seemed fine.

1. I could not assign an Icon, so the folder on the TaskBar was the simple generic folder.  How do I change this?

2. I went out to dinner and when I came back, it seemed Start11 had 'gone away'. My menu folder was gone, and I could not even go back and re-Add it. ???

Very frustrated, Start11 seems to address what I want. I had been using another 3rd party (forget the name, it no longer works on Win11) so Start11 looked great.

What am I overlooking?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

1. Right click on the Pinned folder on the taskbar, right click again on that folder on menu, select property, select Shortcut tab, click "Chang Icon" button. Refer screenshot below.

2. If you do restart explorer.exe does Start11 work again? https://www.howtogeek.com/198815/use-this-secret-trick-to-close-and-restart-explorerexe-in-windows/

3. That other 3rd party software, have you uninstalled it. This software might be the one that causing conflict with Start11 hence causing your issue in the first place.

Thanks

OK, a lot more success. The problem turns out to be that it was NOT obvious that an Explorer restart is required for a lot of changes. This is not clear as a lot of other options have immediate effect.

Maybe when something is altered that requires a restart, some kind of pop-up reminder notification would be nice.

So I've done the purchase today.

You can always change the icon before you pin the folder to the taskbar. You won't have to restart Explorer if you do this.
