Bug: Layout auto-adjustments doesn't work in some case

If the resolution changes while Fences is not running, it will not auto adjust the layout to the new resolution.  This feature seems only work in changing resolution while Fences is running.

For example: Turn off the computer, plug in a monitor with another resolution, boot the computer. Fences will not adapt the layout to the new monitor.

This usually happens like, in my office I have a 2K display, after work I turn off the laptop and go home, then if I boot the laptop with its built-in 1080p display, Fences will not auto adjust the layout.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need to know its full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Fences version installed.
  3. Screenshot of your Layout features setting, something like screenshot below.

Thank you.

Hello,
In the situation, since you turn off your system before unplug, I believe Fences does not get information that the next time your boot the monitors layout has changed. If this happen you will need to create a new layout snapshot for your layout  on single monitor and save it. You can load this layout snapshot for Fences to use when you on Single monitor.

Thanks

I think it is quite simple to implement this: remember the last layout/resolution (to a file/registry), and when the next time boots up, you can check is it the layout/resolution changed or not, if yes, do the same thing as Fences is running.

Otherwise, it is very inconvenient, I always have to manually restore the snapshot if this thing happens. This feature works fine if plug/unplug the monitor while the Fences is running.
