Few questions.

  1. Do you have installed any Fences version before installing Fences 5? Which Fences version was it?
  2. Did you uninstall the old Fences before installing Fences 5?
  3. Do you see any error popup while installing Fences 5?
  4. Did you restart your computer right after Fences 5 installation finished?

Thank you,

1. I had fences 4 installed.

2. I had to do a factory reset and reinstall windows 11.

3. There was no error message during installation other than the one mentioned.

4. I restarted right after version 5 was installed.

You format OS drive and install Windows 11 or just installed over the old system?

Also check this thread, it might be your Security setting is blocking Fences from working properly: https://forums.stardock.com/502301/get;3846187

I did what the technician said was a "reset" of the OS drive.  I don't know whether it reformated the drive first.

How about the security setting as mentioned in that link I posted on Reply#5?

That didn't work either.  I also found a windows program compatibility checker.  The program tested Fences and then changed some computer settings to see if it work, but it did not, so it sent a ticket to Microsoft.  I really want to get Fences to work because it is a very helpful program.

I don't know how to check to see if it is installed.  I searched for it and could not find it.

What Basj is trying to ask is whether you chose to keep your files or delete them on the reset. If you chose to keep them then maybe a problem app carried over when you did a system restore because It was never deleted.

It sounds like something is interfering with your explorer, it could be as simple as needing to turning off a certain start up program under your task manager.

A clean boot should help also

The problem is solved.  I had to do a complete reinstall of the OS and now fences works.  I apologize for not notifying you earlier, but I have been busy building the machine back up.
